Custom Installation
This option also allows you to select which components to install and to customize the properties files for the SkillSoft Course Player, Simulation Player, and SCM using the Properties Tool.
- At the Select Modules and Options screen, select the desired installation options. You can use the Select All and Select None buttons to select or deselect all available options.

Install Courses
|
Install course content to your server (default=selected). If you select this option, then later in the installation you are prompted to select the courses you want to install. By default, all new and updated courses are selected to be installed. Any courses that are already current on your server are deselected by default.
Note: Selecting this option will also zip courses for download if these courses do not already have a zip file.
|
Process Installed Course Files
|
Select options for processing the course splash screens for DOM support and generating AICC and SCORM files for third party LMS integration (default=selected).
|
Install SkillSoft Content File
|
Have the curriculum files copied to the server. These files are required if you are using SkillPort or a content-only site (default=selected).
Note: If the curriculum files on the server have been customized (e.g. custom courses have been added), the new files should be updated prior to installation. Installing new files will overwrite any previous customizations to the curriculum files.

Install SkillSoft Course Manager (SCM)
|
Install the SCM to the web server (default=selected).
If you select this option, you will be prompted for languages to install.
If you are installing the SCM and want to download Business Skills, E3, Classic, Passive, CCA, and Simulation content, you must also select the option(s) to install the appropriate player(s) for these courses.
If you are installing the SCM as a standalone installation (separate from the content), you must choose to install these additional players.

Install Simulation Player
|
Install the Simulation Player software to the web server (default=selected).
|
Install e3 Player
|
Install the e3 Player software to the web server (default=not selected).
|
Generate SSO Files for SCM Support
|
Generate the files necessary to support SCM download on a content-only installation (default=not selected). If you select this option, then later in the installation you are prompted to enter a server location containing course content.
|
Install Properties Tool
|
Install the properties customization software to the web server (default=selected).
|
Upgrade courses that play with the e3 Player to play with SCP
|
Upgrade e3 courses and/or all LOT and SCORM courses to play with the SkillSoft Course Player.
|
Install SkillPort Runtime Environment for SCORM support
|
Note: This option only displays when S12SPLW.zip has been added to the installation folder, Lib.
This zip is supplied by SkillPort and is required to support their SCORM 1.2 implementation.

Generate Course Summary Pages
|
Create summary pages for the courses that exist on the server and the content-only site index page. If you select this option, then later in the installation you are prompted to enable download support (default=selected).
Note: You should always choose this option if you are installing a newer version of the software, even if you are not replacing the course content.
|
Generate SCORM Files
|
Create the necessary integration files needed to support SCORM communications (default=selected).
|
Generate Content Available File
|
Generate a content available .xml file on the server which will contain only the content on this site (default=selected).
|
Install SkillSoft Course Player
|
Install the SkillSoft Course Player software (default=selected). If you select this option, you are prompted later in this installation to choose language(s) to install, as well as options to enable download support and web accessibility features.
|
Install Classic Player
|
Install the Classic Player software to the web server (default=selected).
|
Install Passive Player
|
Install the Passive Player software to the web server (default=selected).
|
Configure Proxy Information
|
Select this option ONLY if ALL users that access this web server will pass through a COMMON proxy server (default=not selected). If you select this option, then later in the installation you are prompted to enter the proxy host information.

Install Skins
|
Install the SkillSoft Course Player Skins to the web server (default=selected).
|
Install SkillBrief Repository
|
Create a repository for Business Skills SkillBriefs. (default= selected). If you also choose to install courses in this Installer session, the Installer moves SkillBriefs in Business Skills courses (if applicable) to this repository.
|
- Click Next to continue.
- If you selected Install Courses in the Select Options and Modules list, the Select Courses to Install screen displays. The courses available for installation appear in a color-coded list that indicates its status:

- Click the checkboxes next to the courses you want to install or use the Select All option to choose all languages. Use the Select None option to deselect the entire list then click Next.
- If you selected Process Installed Course Files, you have the choice of the following options:

Check for DOM/508 support in the splash/front-end pages of your SCP and SkillSims courses. If these pages do not have DOM support, the Installer adds DOM/508 support (default=selected).

Generate AICC Files

Generate AICC files for all your applicable courses (default=selected).

Launch Page
|
Select Launch directly into the course to have courses launched without a summary descriptor page or select Launch via Summary Descriptor Page to have applicable courses launched through a summary descriptor page.

Mastery Scores
|
If you selected the Generate AICC Files option, select the minimum passable Mastery scores for SCP, CCA content, SkillSim content, Classic content, and e3 content.
|
AICC version
|
Select an AICC version from the AICC version drop-down list box. The options to choose from are AICC version 2.2 and AICC version 3.5.
|
Alternate Location for AICC files
|
The Installer allows you to set an alternate location to install AICC files. The Installer, by default, installs the AICC files to the \aicc folder at the top level of each course folder on the server (the folder is immediately below the course ID folder e.g., COMM0606\aicc\ or CUST0100\aicc) with the exception of e3 and Classic (refer to the table below). If you want AICC files installed in an alternate location, click the Browse button and navigate to the location where you want these files to be installed. If you select an alternate location, the files will be copied to the alternate directory and will remain in the default directory as well.

- If you selected Generate SCORM files, you have the choice of the following options:

Generate PIF Files
|
A PIF file is a complete, self-contained course that contains all the files necessary to play a course. It is a compressed (ZIP) file that contains both the course and Player files.
Include Player files in PIF If selected, the player files are included in the PIF file set.
Note: This makes the PIF much larger. If the Player files are excluded from the PIF, it is not considered SCORM compliant.
Location for PIF files By default, PIF files are created in the [Content Installation Directory]\web folder. Change the default location by typing in a new location or select one using the Browse button.
Note: If you select this option, the Properties Tool will display and you will be prompted to complete the property edits in the following files before the PIF files can be generated:

Note: You must set the USE_SCORM_API parameter to TRUE in the PagePlayer.properties file to enable SCORM communications.
- Click Next to continue.
- If you selected Install SkillSoft Course Player or Install SkillSoft Course Manager (SCM) in the Select Options and Module Screen, you are to select the languages for installation. The Player and SCM are capable of playing courses in several different languages.
 - Select the languages for installation. Click the checkboxes next to the languages you want to install or use the Select All option to choose all languages. Use the Select None option to deselect the entire list.
- Set the installation's default language. Select the default checkbox next to the language you want as the default. You can only select one default language.
Note: The selected default language determines the language of the course list index.html page, the SCM download pages, and the default language in the SCM download language selection list. The language of the course determines the language of the course summary pages and SkillSoft Course Player interface. The language selected by the user when the SCM is downloaded determines the language of the SCM interface.
- Click Next to accept your selections and continue.
- If you are installing the SCM, select Enable Download Support On All Course Summary Pages to create a link on all course summary pages to download that course to a learner's local machine. If the learner does not have the SCM downloaded, they are then prompted to download the SCM first (default=selected).
 - Click Next to accept your selections and continue.
- If you selected Install SkillSoft Course Player, select or deselect the Enable 508 Support for the SkillSoft Course Player checkbox to allow users the ability to choose 508 technologies when playing courses (default=not selected).

- Click Next to accept your selection and continue.
- If you selected Generate SSO Files for SCM Support or Process Installed Course Files in the Select Options screen, enter your content server location.
- Follow the instructions on the screen and click Next to continue.

- If you selected Configure Proxy Settings, the Modify Proxy Setting screen displays. If all users need to pass through a common proxy server to access the web server, follow the on-screen instructions to enter a Proxy Host and Proxy Port.
- If users do not need to use a proxy, or if users will use different proxy servers to access the web server, leave the fields blank (the installation will complete without this information).

- Click Next to accept your entries and continue.
- If you selected Upgrade courses that play with e3 player to play with SCP in the Select Options screen, select or deselect the appropriate options:

Specify location of manifest file
|
Enter the location of your manifest file in the field or browse to the location of the manifest file by clicking the Browse button. The manifest file contains a list of course ids of the courses that you want to upgrade. The manifest file contains a list of course ids of the course that you want to upgrade. The manifest file can specify if a course is LOT or e3 and can also specify the path to the spcsf.
Note: Leave this field blank if you have not created a manifest file to use in upgrading courses.

- Click Next to accept your selections and continue.
- If you selected Install SkillBrief Repository in the Select Options screen, then the Install SkillBrief screen displays. Enter the directory name to your local path where you want the SkillBriefs to reside.

- Click Next to continue.
- If you selected Install SkillSoft Course Manager (SCM) in the Select Options screen, select which players to install for offline play. Click Next to accept your selections and continue.

- The Selected Options screen displays. Use the scroll bar to review the entire options list.
 - If you are not satisfied with the selections and want to change them, click the Back button and change the appropriate options.
- If you are satisfied with the selections, click Next to start the installation.
- The Installer installs the selected software to the content server directory that you selected. A log file is created in the /Logs folder of your content server directory (format: Installer_yyyy-mm-dd).
Note: If prompted, click the Yes button or the Yes to All button to overwrite any existing files.
- Click Finish to exit the installation program.
