Creating a Contents Page
This page, the first page of the learning object, usually states the objective of the learning object and lists the learning points or topics covered. However, the layout of this page is merely a guideline, so you can alter its appearance to suit your needs. For example, you can use this page to simply state the contents of the learning object or omit it from your learning object altogether.
Alternatively, if you wish to follow the Skillport format for content pages, you should make each learning point a hyperlink to the relevant section of the learning object, thus allowing students to navigate to a particular point by clicking the link.
To create a contents page:
- Open the copy of the contents.html page that you saved to your learning object site folder.
- Enter text and images as appropriate.
- To add any hyperlinks to your learning points, follow the instructions in “Adding hyperlinks to your learning object” section.
- To add hyperlinks to any page of your learning object, you must use the goAnyPage function as described in the “Adding hyperlinks to your learning object” section. If you don’t, student progress tracking will be interrupted.
- Once you have finished editing the page, select File - Save. Unlike the test and conceptual pages described above, you do not need to maintain an original copy of this page in your learning object site folder, as you need only one contents page per learning object.
