Creating a Test Page
The test pages of the learning object are the pages that contain CourseBuilder interactions that are judged, scored, and tracked by Skillport. As with the conceptual page, you can change the layout of this page to suit your needs.
The process of creating a test page is similar to creating a conceptual page, but involves some extra steps to create the CourseBuilder interaction. These extra steps allow the interaction to be successfully tracked.
The first time you attempt to insert a CourseBuilder interaction, you may receive a message that asks whether you wish to copy a scripts and images folder to your site directory. Click OK to agree and proceed.
To create a test page
- Open the test_xx.html template page in Dreamweaver and select File - Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box that opens, enter a new name, such as test_01.html (or use a similarly appropriate numbering system), in the File name field.
- Click Save to save the file as a new page. In this way, as with the conceptual pages, a new test page is created while the original template page remains unaltered. This allows the template file – test_xx.html – to be used repeatedly for the numerous test pages of your learning object.
- Proceed to enter a CourseBuilder interaction.
- Include only one CourseBuilder interaction per test page.
- To enable tracking, select the Action Manager tab while the CourseBuilder Interaction dialog box is still open.
- Select the if Correct condition from the Segment: Correctness list provided.
-
- Select Call JavaScript from the drop-down list provided at the top of the dialog box and click Add.
-
- The Call JavaScript dialog box opens. You must type a function call in the space provided to allow the interaction score to be tracked. This function call is updateQuiz();
-
- Repeat the procedure for the else if Incorrect condition.
- The score that is sent back to Skillport is accumulated over the duration of the learning object. To ensure that this happens, you must make certain that the Knowledge Track checkbox is not selected in the General tabbed page of the CourseBuilder Interaction dialog box.
- Click OK to exit the CourseBuilder dialog box.
- Once you have completed the page, resave the file by selecting File - Save.
- Repeat this process for all the test pages of the learning object, renaming the files as appropriate – test_02.html, test_03.html, test_04.html, and so on.
