Skillsoft's Hosting Service does not currently support a number of items in their server environment. Developers should make certain if they wish to deploy custom content in Skillsoft's hosting environment that it does not violate any of the constraints in the following table:
Constraint | Example | Description |
---|---|---|
No server side scripts or executables |
.asp, .aspx, .bat, .cgi, .com, .exe, .fla, .jsp, .php |
Skillsoft Hosting does not permit custom content that contains any server side scripts or executable file types in native formats; these files, intentionally or accidentally are a potential hazard to the Skillsoft hosting environment. Skillsoft Hosting will deny any server-side scripts and executables upon receipt as a matter of client security. Skillsoft Hosting could permit executable files in the .zip format if they supplement existing custom content, but these files require formal approval. |
No Cold Fusion Support |
.cfm, .cfml |
Skillsoft Hosting does not permit the use of Cold Fusion technology including any Cold Fusion files within their custom content. |
No special software mappings |
virtual hosts |
Skillsoft Hosting does not permit custom content that requires special software installations or mappings on environment. The maintenance and liability implications to Skillsoft are prohibitive. |
Skillsoft reserves the right to refuse file sets based on objectionable content, file types, file sizes, for example, files over 200MB per course or file set.
Content should have each course in a self-contained folder and not require files deployed on Skillsoft hosting, such as a shared glossary or a player. These dependencies are difficult to manage and may result in a false testing failure or a critical production failure in the future, such as where resources or content is withdrawn for one course and affects other active courses.
