Web Server Requirements

Notes

General Requirements
  • Physical access to the server is required for the initial installation of the software in order to configure the server (see the Configuring Microsoft IIS section). Subsequent installation/reinstallation can be done remotely, but the server and server installation media must reside on a local or mappeddrive.
  • Administrator workstations should have a minimum video resolution of 800x600 with 16-bit color

Hardware
  • Minimum 400 MHz Intel Pentium processor
  • 256 MB RAM
  • Minimum machine requirements for Macintosh is G3

Operating Systems
  • Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 or greater
  • Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or greater
  • Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
  • Windows XP with Service Pack 2

    Note: If you are running your content server on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, you must define some mime types for IIS 6.0. See the Windows 2003 Server Configuration section of this document (in the Configuring Microsoft IIS section) for more information about this procedure.

Web Server Software
  • Microsoft IIS version 4.0 or greater

Web Browser
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.5 or greater required for installation
  • Mozilla
    • 1.6 With Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and SuSE Linux 9.0 only
    • 1.7 With Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and SuSE Linux 9.1 only
  • Mozilla Firefox, version 1.0 and 1.5, With Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and SuSE Linux 9.1 only

    • 2.0 or higher
      with Macintosh OS X 1.0 only

HTTPS/SSL/ Secure Server Support

HTTPS is supported on Windows NT 4.0 SP6 and Windows 2000 Servers.
