Live Events

Live Events are available to the Leadership Development Channel, 50 Lessons and SkillSoft Leadership Advantage subscribers. Note that 50 Lessons subscribers must access a Live Event through a Skillsoft platform.

For live Technical Support during Live Events

• Chat with a Technical Support Agent during the live event, or
• Call a Technical Support Agent during the live event:
  • 888-280-1101 for the US and Canada.
  • 506-462-1424 for other countries.

To view Live Events

1. Before a Live Event, an inactive "Live Event" link and a "Test" link will appear in the "Play Options" box on the "Launch Page". The Live Event link will become active approximately 60 minutes prior to event start.
2. Prior to the event, click on the Test link to test connectivity and to verify that you have Flash version 10 or higher. Be sure to return to the "Launch Page" to watch the live event. If you do not have Flash 10 or higher, you will be given the option to view the event via Windows Media Player 9 or higher.
   • Download the latest version of Flash PLayer.
   • Download the latest version of Windows Media Player from the Microsoft Website.
3. If you are experiencing interruptions while viewing the Windows Media Player stream, make sure you have changed your Network Buffering Option to 30 seconds versus the default of 5 seconds (see directions below).
   1. While viewing a program, right click on the Windows Media Player screen and choose Options.
   2. Click on the Performance tab.
   3. Go to Network Buffering and click Buffer (a green circle will now light up on your selection and will disappear from Use Default Buffering).
   4. Type in "30" seconds.
   5. Click Apply on the bottom right of the screen.

If you're having problems viewing an event

• If you have downloaded the latest software and you are still having difficulty viewing the test movie then contact your IT department as your network may be blocking access.
• If you are having problems projecting Windows Media Player, some older projectors do not work well with Windows Media Player. Please follow the steps below to change the video acceleration:
  1. In Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Performance tab.
  3. In the Video Acceleration area, move the slider to adjust the video-acceleration capabilities of your video hardware. Drag the slider to Full to use all available video acceleration. Drag the slider to None to use basic video-acceleration settings that work with most video hardware.

To find Live Events

To see a list of upcoming events, go to the "My Home" page and click on the "What's New" folder. See the "Live Events" tab.

• Use the check box to make this tab the "My Home" folder.
• Outlook users can use the "Add to Outlook" browse tool to add a reminder.

To find Archived Events

1. On the "My Home" tab, look for the Browse Topics box on the right.
2. Click on Archived Live Events.
