Edit Dynamic Content
You can edit dynamic content to make corrections to question/answer text, modify content mappings, change audiences that the dynamic content is visible to and add/remove it from library locations.
Impacts to learners
You can edit dynamic content with the following statuses: Draft, Published, or Unpublished changes. Understanding the impacts to learners, completions, and reports is important before you make edits to previously published dynamic content.
You must republish dynamic content so that learners can see any changes you made, except if you change the audience that the dynamic content is visible to. When you change the audience, changes are reflected immediately regardless of published status.
- Change Titles or Descriptions: If you edit the Title or Description, the learner sees the updates next time they access the dynamic content. Reports are updated with new titles.
- Change questions or answers: If you change the questions or answers:
- Prior to publishing dynamic content, your may add, delete, or edit the questions and answers, including the question and answer structure.
- Once published, you can no longer add or remove questions or answers or modify the question and answer flow. You can make changes to the question or answer text and re-order answer options.
- If a learner has not started the dynamic content, they will see the newest version.
- If a learner has answered all questions in the profiler prior to the newest version, they will see the version that they started.
- To see the latest version, learners must re-answer all questions in the profiler and submit them.
- Add content to an answer combination and a learner has completed dynamic content: If you add content to an answer combination and a learner has completed the dynamic content:
- The learner retains dynamic content completion.
- The learner retains all badges earned.
- If new content is added, the learner will not see the newly added content.
- Add content to an answer combination and a learner has not completed dynamic content: If you add content to an answer combination and a learner has not completed the dynamic content:
- In order to see the new content, learners must re-answer all questions in the profiler and submit their answers. If they do not re-submit, the new content will not be surfaced to the learner and they will not be required to complete the new dynamic content.
- If the dynamic content is in progress and they re-submit their answers through the profiler, the learner completion status of the dynamic content changes to reflect the new percent complete the next time the learner launches content.
- If a learner does not re-submit their answers through the profiler, there is no change to the dynamic content completion status.
- Dynamic Content Reports are updated to reflect new completion status and new content items if the learner resubmits their answers through the profiler. Otherwise, reporting will be based on the previous dynamic content version.
- Remove content from an answer combination and learner has completed the dynamic content: If you remove any content from an answer combination, and a learner completed the dynamic content:
- The learner will still see the removed content in the dynamic content.
- There is no change to the learner completion status of the dynamic content.
- Remove content from an answer combination and learner has not completed dynamic content: If you remove any content from an answer combination, and a learner has not completed the dynamic content:
- The learner must re-answer the questions in the profiler and re-submit them to see the content removed from the dynamic content. If they do not re-submit their answers, they will still see the removed content item and must complete it to gain a completion for the dynamic content.
- If the learner started the content that you removed and re-submitted their answers through the profiler, the learner can no longer access the removed content item from the dynamic content. However, if that removed content is not retired from your Skillsoft Platform, the learner can access that removed content item from their Activity list to complete it if they want. Completing the content item outside the dynamic content will not impact the completion status of dynamic content, but will show the item complete in the learner's Activity list.
- A course mapped to an answer combination has been retired: If a course is retired from the platform and is mapped to a dynamic content answer combination:
- Learners still see the retired content and when the attempt to launch it, they receive an error indicating that the content is not available.
- Learners are unable to complete the dynamic content until the retired content has been removed.
- You can edit the dynamic content to remove the retired content and replace it with the recommended replacement title.
- Learners will have to resubmit their profiler to see the newly mapped content
- Change audience visibility: If you change the audience that the dynamic content is visible to, the changes are immediate. You do not need to republish the dynamic content.
- Change library location(s): You can add or remove the dynamic content from library locations. These changes are reflected upon publishing.
