JRE Support

All active and supported Skillsoft courses have the ability to play without Java-free. Some older or retired courses may be Java dependent, or Skillport may be configured to use a Java-dependent player. If Java is required, Skillsoft supports

• .JAR Java™ Applets
• Enabling Java™ Console
• The latest fully released version of the Oracle JRE.

Skillsoft does not formally support any JRE that has not been fully released by Oracle. If issues with a specific Oracle JRE occur, the problems are analyzed to determine the best course of corrective action.

Oracle JRE with installed JVM (Windows):

• 1.8: 1.8.0_131+

Oracle JRE with installed JVM (macOS):

• Mac OS X v10.13 or higher (including macOS Sierra v 10.13+) with JRE v1.8.0_131+
• Mac OS X v10.13 or higher (including macOS Sierra v 10.13+) with JRE v9.0.x
