In SkillPort 7, the Catalog contains learning assets and learning programs that are logically organized into curricula by subject matter, where each curriculum is represented by a folder. You can browse the Catalog and find learning assets by navigating through the hierarchy of folders and subfolders. The Catalog is presented to both administrators and learners in the same hierarchical view.

Learners see the Catalog as it is presented in the Edit Contents pane in SkillPort Administrator. Access to the Catalog is on the left navigation panel in SkillPort Learner.

In Skillport 8, the Catalog remains, but is altered to better enhance the learner experience.

Catalog features that remain the same:

• It contains learning content and learning programs, logically organized into curricula by subject matter.
• As an administrator, you can search and browse the Catalog in the same ways.

Changes to the Catalog:

• Hide/Unhide content in the Edit Contents pane, customizing what learners can and cannot see when they click Browse the Library in Skillport Learner.
• Control what content displays to learners using browse views, featured topics and series.

In SkillPort 7, the credentials feature (also called the Credential Module) is used to earn education credits by completing Skillsoft training. Each credential has a unique catalog that displays all of the courses for which you can receive credit.

You can access existing credentials and create custom ones using the Credentials page (Display > Credentials) in SkillPort Administrator.

In Skillport 8, within Skillport Administrator, these are still called Credentials; in Skillport Learner, these are called training credits, which is a specialized filter used to locate credit-based training content for a specific credential (such as PMI or NASBA). You can use the Training Credit filter in the Search filters to find available credit-based training content.

You can access existing credentials and create custom ones using the Credentials page (Display > Credentials) in Skillport Administrator.

In SkillPort 7, using the Home Page screen in SkillPort Administer (Display > Home Page), you can control the image and message that you want to display on the default SkillPort Home page.

• Settings: Opt to display a custom or company-branded image on your Home page and enter the image URL in the field provided.
• Display Text: Customize your message for your organization.

In Skillport 8, the What's New page is the default landing page. Just like in SkillPort 7, your organization can configure any page in Skillport to be your landing page, which will be what you see when you first sign into Skillport Learner.

There are three areas you can modify to enhance your learners' experience. Each area of the What's New page is highlighted on the See What's New page in Skillport Administrator, to show you exactly what you are modifying in Skillport Learner:

• Image tab: Opt to display a custom or company-branded image on your What's New page.
• Welcome Message tab: Customize your message for your organization.
• Assets tab: Select up to three content items you'd like learners to see when they first sign into Skillport Learner.

In SkillPort 7, there are 3 navigation buttons that display to learners (My Plan, My Progress and Catalog, as shown in the first image below). Use the Navigation Buttons page in SkillPort Administrator to show, hide, reorder, and rename these buttons.

In SkillPort 7, shortcuts are available in the lower-left corner of the page and provide access to content and site features. You can modify these shortcuts using the Shortcuts page in SkillPort Administrator (Display > Navigation > Shortcuts).

In Skillport 8, the Quick Links drop-down menu in the Skillport header provides easy access to a variety of features and functions within Skillport. These links can be modified on the Quick Links page in Skillport Administrator (Display > Navigation > Quick Links).

In SkillPort 7, a browser-safe table of 252 colors is available. These colors include 216 browser-safe color values and 36 grayscale colors common among supported browsers when running in 256-color mode. The Skillport color scheme is divided into groups based on functionality.

In Skillport 8, the available browser-safe table of 252 colors is available, the same as SkillPort 7. The only difference is how the information displays in Skillport Administrator.

Many SkillPort 7 learners have access to the Books24x7 On Demand Platform for in-depth searching, browsing, reading and collaborating. Access and entitlements to book collections are set in Skillport Administrator (on the Configuration > Features > Books24x7 page).

In Skillport 8, the Books24x7 content is seamlessly integrated into the Skillport Learner experience; there is no longer a need to go to a separate site.. Access and entitlement to titles are controlled the same way in Skillport Administrator 8 as they are in SkillPort 7 (on the Configuration > Features > Books24x7 page).

In SkillPort 7.2 and 7.3, inGenius brought the power of social networking to SkillPort. Access the inGenius settings in SkillPort 7 through Configuration > Features > inGenius on the navigation bar.

In Skillport 8, inGenius has been renamed to Community; however, in Skillport Administrator, it is referenced as Social Community and inGenius (interchangeably). In Skillport Learner, it is only called Community.

Access the Community settings in Skillport Administrator the same way as in SkillPort 7 (Configuration > Features > inGenius on the navigation bar).

In SkillPort 7, you can use the Configure User Profile Information page to enable and manage the information fields that display on the Self-Registration page and control what information fields are available when creating new users. The user profile fields are presented in a list with check boxes.

In Skillport 8, user profile fields are presented on the Manage User Profile Fields page in an editable list, separated into the two types of fields:

• Standard fields are provided by Skillport and cannot be modified. For more information about these fields, refer to User CSV Template.
• Custom fields that you create to gather additional information not captured in standard fields. You can create a maximum of 30 custom fields per site. If applicable for your site, you can also create localized prompts and localized select lists for the custom fields. For more information, refer to Create a Custom Field.

In Skillport 8, Search displays multiple search refinements and language options to quickly find the best content to meet your learners' needs. Access the Search configurations in the same place in Skillport Administrator 8 as SkillPort Administrator 7.3 (Configuration > Search).

In SkillPort 7, you can determine the number of results to display on the first page of the search results using the Configuration > Search page in SkillPort Administrator. This page controls the display of the following types of searches:

• SEARCH&LEARN searches performed by learners in SkillPort Learner
• Catalog searches performed by administrators in SkillPort Administrator

In Skillport 8, the system displays the top five results from each category, and you determine the order in which those categories display using the Configuration > Search page in Skillport Administrator. This page controls the display of the following types of searches:

• Content searches performed by learners in Skillport Learner
• Catalog searches performed by administrators in Skillport Administrator

In SkillPort 7, the Asset Filter tab within the Edit Template dialog box of the Reports > Templates page provides options for including or excluding assets, and selecting assets by category. You can search for specific assets and you can filter by options (such as Learning Program status or Books24x7 collections).

In Skillport 8, the same functionality exists and reflects the new Library structure featured in Skillport 8. Selecting assets by folder is now supported. If you select an entire folder of assets, all assets in the folder and its sub-folders will be included in the report results.

For any templates that are saved with a folder selected in the asset filter, if the contents of the folder change at a later date then:

• Any assets removed from the folder will not be included in the report results.
• Any assets added to the folder will be included in the report results, if available.

Summary Catalog reports include the Course Summary Catalog report and the Books24x7 Book and Video Summary Catalog report.

• Course Catalog report and Books24x7 Book and Video Catalog reports have been consolidated into the Library Detail report.

In Skillport 8, User My Plan reports are called User Learning Plan reports.

If you are upgrading from a Skillport version prior to 7.3, the User Learning Plan Detailed report has been enhanced for compliance reporting and includes several new Display Options and Filter Options. Because of these changes, we are not able to bring forward Personal Templates and schedules based on the earlier version. You will need to create new Personal Templates and schedules with the new User Learning Plan Detailed template.

In Skillport 8, all Books24x7 usage reporting is done through Skillport Reporting, with the exception of the following reports accessible from the Reports > Legacy Books24x7 Reports menu:

• Geographical Session Analysis
• User Warnings
• Value of Unique Titles Accessed
• Additional changes to Books24x7 reports include:
  • Books24x7 Content reports are renamed Books and Videos.
  • Books and Videos Subscription > Individual Usage Detail and Subscription Summary reports let you filter the report to only show mobile site usage.

In SkillPort 7, only twelve User Profile fields are available for report filtering, and the values for each field are added to the report as an "AND" operator.

In Skillport 8, you can filter by any, or all, of the User Profile fields that are available, and you can filter by additional criteria such as "matches," "equals," etc.

Note: Due to the enhanced capabilities of User Profile Fields in Skillport 8, after an upgrade from Skillport 7.3 to Skillport 8 you may see additional User Profile Fields automatically selected as Display Options in saved Templates. If necessary, you can modify the selected Display fields and save the Template.

In SkillPort 7, Books24x7 login information is tracked separately from SkillPort logins. Therefore, multiple logins may be counted for the same user during one session.

In Skillport 8, all Books24x7 login information is no longer tracked separately from Skillport logins. Therefore, multiple logins for the same user are no longer counted within the same session. This may cause the total number of logins to appear fewer after an upgrade.

Additionally, tablet and smartphone logins are tracked under Skillport Mobile. Historical data gathered before Skillport 8 cannot be re-categorized.
