Format an Article

You can modify or enter additional content in an article using the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) toolbar on the Edit Article page.

The WYSIWYG Toolbar

This toolbar allows you to format the contents of a wiki article, such that content displayed while editing the article appears very similar to the final output when publishing the article.

Wikitext icon

Allows you to view or edit the document source code (for advanced users).

Cut Icon Cut

Cuts the highlighted text to the clipboard.

Copy Icon Copy

Copies the highlighted text to the clipboard.

Paste icon Paste

Pastes the data copied to the clipboard with formatting.

Paste asText icon Paste as Text

Pastes the data copied to the clipboard without formatting.

Paste from Word Paste from Word

Pastes content copied from Microsoft Word or a similar application.

Print icon Print

Prints the current document.

Undo/ Redo icon Undo/Redo

Undo or redo the most recent action taken.

Find icon Find

Finds a word or phrase within the document

Find and Replace icon Find and Replace

Finds and replaces a word or phrase within the document.

Select All Icon Select All

Selects the entire text in the document.

Remove Formatting icon Remove Formatting

Removes the formatting from the highlighted text.

Insert Symbol icon Symbol

Inserts a custom symbol or character.

Insert table icon Table

Creates a table with the defined number of columns and rows.

Insert image icon Image

Inserts an image into the document.

Insert a Line icon Horizontal Line

Inserts a divider line (horizontal rule).

Insert template icon Insert template

Allows you to add templates.

Insert Special Tag icon Insert Special Tag

Allows you to add tags or meta data to articles.

References icon References

Allows you to create references.

Insert formula Insert Formula

Allows you to insert a formula, similar to those added to spreadsheets. This can be helpful for calculating information in tables.

Signature icon Insert Signature

Allows you to enter the user signature for a comment. The user signature allows you to display the time stamp and the date along with the user name next to the comment.

For example: Jack 11:58, 13 September 2007.

You can also display the user name, date, and time into preferred format using the Preferences page.

Allows you to insert or edit categories for articles.

A drop-down which includes the list of styles you can apply for text.

Format style

Applies bold, italic, underline, or strike-through formatting to the highlighted text.

Insert Subscript/Superscript icon Superscript or subscript

Allows you to superscript or subscript the highlighted text.

Bullets and Numbering icon Bullets and Numbering

Allows you to make the highlighted text a numbered list or a bulleted list.

 

Quotation icon Quotation

Format a block of text to identify quotations (text prominent from other sources).

Justify icon Justify

Sets the text alignment (left, centered, right, or justified).

Add/Remove Hyperlinks icon Hyperlinks

Converts or removes the text in hyperlinks. It may also be used to manage file uploads and links to files on the web server.

Add Anchor icon Anchor

Allows you to create a place in an article which you may access directly, either from the content pane or from a separate web address.

Add Style icon Styles

Creates a style for only the selected text, table cell, and other elements.

sp_ico_highlight Highlight

Highlights selected content in the desired colour.

Fullscreen ico Maximise

Maximises the editor size inside the browser.

Help icon Help

Displays the Skillport online help.
