AICC Specification Information

The AICC (Aviation Industry CBT (Computer-Based Training) Committee) CMI specification provides a means by which developers of technology-based training and Learner Management Systems can design products that use a common means to:

describe and communicate student progress data so products from different vendors may interoperate
describe the structure and behaviors of learning objects so they can be exported and imported by different Learner Management Systems

AICC content is created in compliance with specific AICC standards. This specification provides the mechanism by which custom-designed learning can be published to Skillport and can communicate with Skillport for launch, control, and tracking purposes.

The AICC CMI specification facilitates the HACP web-based communication method, which uses URL-encoded command lines. See Appendix 1, The HACP Method of AICC Communication for details.

Where AICC content utilizes JSAPI communication methods, the content author should also refer to Skillsoft's documentation on authoring SCORM 1.2 content, as the communications mechanism and issues are similar. Packaging requirements for AICC JSAPI can also be found in this document.
