Map Column Data
The Data Mapping section on the Add/Edit Import/Export page includes the fields used for the specific import type.
For example, the Group Requirement import includes fields needed to assign content to a group such as course Type, Due Date, Passing Threshold, etc.
The Historical Completions import includes fields needed to mark content with a completion or equivalency.
The columns in the import file must be mapped to the fields on the Add/Edit Import/Export page.
To map the data columns
- Open the Excel file used to create your .csv or .txt import file.
- For each field in the Data Mapping section, locate the matching column in the file.
- Add the column letter from the Excel file to the matching field. (Do not use column header name)
Important Notes
- Fields in red are required.
- The first column in the file must contain data or the import will fail.
- Not all fields must be mapped. For example, if a file only contains two columns, data in other fields is not overwritten. However, if you map a column with no data in the file, the data on your site is overwritten with a blank value.
- The columns in the file may not be in the same order as the fields on the page. Ensure you use the correct column letter for each field.
- Column names in the file may not exactly match the field names.
- All fields have default values that are used if the file does not have a matching column with data.
