Import a .par File
Importing a .par file unzips all included files and creates an overlay package on your computer. A folder with the name of the file (minus the version number at the end of the file name) is created, and all files are placed in this folder. For example, if you import a .par file named "kc_lh1v1_a02_kcc_enus-1.0.0.par", the folder name will be "kc_lh1v1_a02_kcc_enus". This folder is created in the default Save Location set in the Tools > Options dialog. During the import, you have the option to change both the name and the location of the overlay.
If importing a .par file from an outside source (such as email or an FTP site), download the file to a location on your computer and navigate to it in step 2.
To import a .par file:
- Select File > Import. The Import dialog box displays.
- Navigate to the .par file you wish to import and click OK.
- If prompted, select the production site and click OK. The New KnowledgeCenter Package dialog opens.
- Modifying the Package ID and/or Save Location is optional. However, if a package with the same name exists on your computer, you may overwrite it.
- In the New KnowledgeCenter Package dialog, accept or modify the KnowledgeCenter ID and Save Location, then click OK.
- If a message displays asking if you want to overwrite the existing folder, click Yes to continue. Click No if you want to change the KnowledgeCenter ID or Save Location to preserve the existing package.
- The package opens in the editor.
- Modify the overlay as desired.
- Click File > Save to save your changes.
- If desired, click File > Generate Package to create a new .par file based on the modified overlay.
