Configure Content Sharing

You can configure content sharing unique to each site depending on your needs.

Default content sharing behavior

By default, content sharing for a site works as follows:

• Domain administrators can always share content from any site to any site.
• Site admins and content curators cannot share content from their site to other sites. This option can be enabled on a site-by-site basis.
• Site admins, content curators, or content coordinators need to place content shared to their site into channels or journeys that are accessible to learners.
• Editing a content item can only be done from the site where it was published (source site).
• Percipio automatically disseminates any changes made to a shared content item to all sites where the content is shared.
• Retiring a content item from the source site also retires it on all sites where it is shared.
• Retiring or choosing to stop sharing an item prevents a learner who has started the item from completing it.
• If a shared content item is part of an assignment or custom journey, choosing to stop sharing the item or retiring it removes the item from the assignment or journey for users who have not started it, but prevents those who started the item from completing it. This may impact a learner's ability to complete the assignment or journey.
• All sites can receive shared content from other sites. This option can be disabled on a site-by-site basis.
• You can only share custom content items, not custom journeys, channels, instructor-led training (live course), areas or subjects.

Configuring content sharing options

1. Sign in with your domain administrator account, then click Sites. The Sites page displays. Locate the site from the list.
2. In the Actions column for the site, click > Content Sharing Settings. The Content Sharing Settings pop up displays.
3. Choose how you want this site to behave:
   • Allow site administrators on this site to share content from this site to other sites. Unselected by default.
   • Allow content curators on this site to share content from this site to other sites. Unselected by default.
   • Allow content to be shared to this site from other sites' site admins and content curators. Selected by default. If you unselect this option, only domain administrators can share content to this site.
4. Select one of the following actions
   1. Cancel: Discards all changes.
   2. Save settings: Updates the site with new content sharing options.
