Create an Image Banner Promotion

An image banner allows you to welcome learners to Percipio with an image on the Percipio home page or as a way to link to an external promotion.

To create a new image banner promotion

    From the Admin menu, select LEARNING > Content Promotions. The Content Promotions page displays with the CONTENT STRIPS tab open by default.
  1. Select Create New Promotion.
  2. Select Custom image banner that can link to external content. The New Promotion - Custom Image Banner page displays.
  3. Enter the Banner promotion title. This is only the title of the promotion itself, not what displays to learners on the banner.
  4. Select a Language from the drop-down list. A promotion created in a specific language will only display to learners who have chosen that language as their Percipio interface.
  5. Enter a Start date.
    6. Note: The promotion displays to your learner beginning at 12:00:00 GMT of the selected day or immediately if today is selected.
  6. Optionally, enter an End date. The promotion stops at 11:59:59 GMT of the selected day.
    7. Note: If you choose not to enter an End date, the promotion runs until you change the end date or pause the promotion.
  7. Upload an image optimized to display on a desktop device by clicking Browse. Locate a *.jpg, *.png, or *.gif image that is a recommended size of 1280x260 pixels. This image does not scale to the full width of the browser. If you change the image after you upload it, you must upload it again to see the changes.
  8. Add Alt text that will describe the image when using screen readers or other assistive devices on a desktop.
  9. Optionally, upload an image optimized to display on a mobile device by selecting Browse. Locate a *.jpg, *.png, or *.gif image that is a recommended size of 320x180 pixels.
    Note: If you do not specify an image for a mobile device, Percipio will scale the desktop image to fit when viewed on a mobile device.
  10. Optionally, add Alt text that will describe the image when using screen readers or other assistive devices on a mobile device.
  11. Optionally, select a Background color or enter a hex color value to display around your image when users view it on a large screen size.
  12. Optionally, target your promotion to one or more audiences.
    1. Select Add audiences.
    2. Enter the name of an audience you wish to target, or browse the audience list.
    3. Select Done. The Create Promotion page displays again.
Note: If you do not target specific audiences, the image promotion displays to all learners via the All users audience.
  1. Optionally, add a Target URL. Starting with http:// or https:// or mailto: enter a valid URL that will open if a user clicks on the image.
  2. Select Create Promotion.
    • If the promotion's Start date is set to today, the promotion launches to the targeted audiences immediately.
      • Note: After creating your promotion, refresh your Percipio home page to see your new banner.
    • If the Start date is in the future, the promotion launches to the targeted audiences at 12:00:00 GMT on the selected date.
