Glossary

The glossary is where you add important business terms that are used by your company so that the AI-powered generation systems of LX Design studio can interpret, translate, and pronounce them in a consistent manner across all content you create.

Admins can define glossary terms, its pronunciation and translation rules. All authors can view glossary terms and their details. The platform automatically applies glossary terms to content generation, prevents duplicate or conflicting entries, and keeps a full audit trail of glossary changes so you can maintain consistent language and improve quality across all content you create in LX Design Studio.

Add a term

To add a term that LX Design Studio uses across all content:

  1. From the Skillsoft Platform, open LX Design Studio.
  2. From the left navigation, select Glossary.
  3. From the top right, select Add term.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Term or phrase: Enter the term or phrase that should be used consistently across all content you create.
    • Translation If you do not want the term to be translated into other languages because it is a proprietary term, such as your company name, acronyms, specialized jargon, or a universal technology, check the box, Do not translate — keep verbatim in all languages. If the term or phrase should be translated, leave the box unchecked.
    • Pronunciation: Configure how AI should say the word aloud. If you chose to translate the term, the default text-to-speech engine handles the pronunciation for the translated term automatically and you cannot specify pronunciation for the different languages. If you chose not to translate the term, but people using other languages speak it differently because of their letter sounds, select Add a language, and for each language you add, specify a pronunciation for it. Use the play arrow to hear how it sounds before you save it. To specify a pronunciation, you can choose from two options:
      • Sounds like: Enter phonetically how one would pronounce the word. Try different combinations of letters until it sounds like it should. Use the apostrophe to break out syllables.
      • IPA (advanced): Select this option to have AI use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to generate the pronunciation rather than relying on plain-text phonetic spelling. After you select IPA (advanced), select the AI star icon to generate the pronunciation using standard phonetic notation.
    • Notes: Enter any notes for this term to help AI use it consistently across content. Notes can be:
      • A concise description of what the term represents within the product, organization or domain
      • Notes on acceptable grammar variations or phrasing restrictions
      • Specific casing, hyphenation or spacing conventions
      • How and when to expand or abbreviate terms, such as: Expand on first mention in content.
  5. Select Save term.
