How it works

There are three components for making the Totara Learn LMS and Percipio integration work.

1. Automated content deployment to the Totara Learn catalog

Percipio provides a daily, metadata export of the latest, licensed non-compliance Skillsoft content including courses, books, audio books, linked content, and Skill Benchmarks.

All Skillsoft content available to your organization are retrieved through the Skillsoft API. On Totara Learn, you see that:

  • Skillsoft content and metadata are automatically updated.

  • Only the content selected by the administrator are deployed to the Totara Learn LMS

2. Content launch from the Totara Learn LMS to Percipio

When learners launch a Skillsoft content asset in the Totara Learn LMS, the item opens in Percipio. This is accomplished using customer-initiated IdP single sign-on (SSO) and deep linking. For first-time users this SSO process creates a new account enabling Percipio to store user activity and manage the user experience. To configure this element of the integration, the Skillsoft implementation team and your technical team implements SAML SSO.

3. Tracking Percipio user activity back to Totara Learn

As learners access content, Percipio collects details on their activity and delivers that detail to Totara Learn via xAPI.

In addition, all collected data is available in Percipio dashboards and reports enabling the use of these tools to monitor and measure the utilization of Skillsoft content and licenses.
