Understanding Data Export Reports

The Data Export Reports feature provides a self-service reporting capability that enables selected Administrators to design reports that will export results to an FTP site for retrieval and processing.   Company Administrators can create and customize reports by determining all the data fields that are included in the reports, control the formatting of the data fields, and access the results via SFTP without requiring a Skillsoft Custom Services project.

Although the feature includes default report templates, no data fields (Display Options) are automatically included in the report results. You must select the data fields you want to include. The templates available in the Export Reports feature are based on standard report templates. This includes the data fields you can select, and the user, group, and asset filters that you can customize.

Before you design your Data Export Reports, we recommend that you become familiar with the standard reports on which they are based.

Note: An Export Report Template for the Library Detail Report will be available at a future date.

The Data Export Report templates are available in the Data Export Reports folder located on the Administrator > Reports > Templates > Default tab.

Important Notes

• You cannot preview the Data Export Default or Personal templates.
• You cannot use Save Result with Data Export default or Personal templates.
• You can edit the Data Export Default templates to create customized templates that are saved to the Personal tab.
• You cannot create a schedule for the Data Export Default templates, but you can create schedules for the Data Export Personal templates.
• You cannot share the Data Export Default or Personal templates.
• You can download the report results from the FTP site, as well as the Report > Results window.
• You cannot export the results to a third party FTP site without the use of Skillsoft Platform Services.
