Job aids are resources that complement and support learning and performance-support processes. They are primarily used after the course has been taken, but can also be used on an ongoing basis or around a specific event (for example, at a performance review or at a management summit). A job aid is most commonly used as an “instant refresher” and a guide for applying a skill. It can be especially useful if the skill is being used long after a course has been taken. Job aids are multi-purpose resources because their specific use varies depending on their content.
Job aids focus on a specific task’s purpose or addressing a particular learner’s need within an identifiable context. It is important to note that they do not provide a detailed summary of all the information in a course.
Learning Aids are documents that support course content presentations or practices. Job/Learning Aids information is added to the course through the Job/Learning Aids tab of the Resources Editor.
There are five fields in the Job/Learning Aids tab:
Title - Displays the title of the Job Aid.
Type - There are two types of Job Aids, Job Aid = J and Learning Aid = L.
File Name - The name of the source file
External Description - A short summary of the documents content. This information is displayed to the learner in the Course Player.
Internal Notes - Any in-house notes the developer wants to add about the file.
