Template Overview

SkillStudio offers many template types to meet the needs of your course creation objectives. Templates are divided into three learning design categories:

• Instruction
• Question
• Caption

Note: Not all template types can be used to create tablet-ready and smartphone-ready content. Refer to the complete list of restricted templates for tablet content and smartphone content for further information.

Instruction Templates

Instruction templates present specific information, such as:

• Basic presentation of instructional content
• Example of a concept
• Demonstration of a procedure
• Visualization of a process
• Facts
• Definitions
• Steps in a procedure
• Events in a process

Question Templates

Question templates provide an opportunity to apply the learner’s knowledge or reinforce newly acquired skills. Often the learner is given situations, such as:

• Analyzing an instance
• Recalling previously-taught material
• Performing a procedure
• Predicting a consequence
• Troubleshooting a process

Caption Templates

Caption templates provide narrated animation. Learners concentrate on what's happening on-screen, while narration describes the action. The format of caption templates differs from other templates because once the content is published, text displays at the bottom of the Skillsoft Course Player in a collapsible window, allowing the learner to hide or show it. By default, the text is hidden.
