Focus Areas

Focus areas are skills that a client selects to work on during their coaching engagement. After the client completes their Leadership Assessment and receives 360° feedback (if applicable), the coaching platform recommends skills for them to work on based on their weaker areas. The client then chooses between 2 and 8 skills as their focus areas. They do not have to choose the recommended skills.

To access the Focus areas page:

  1. From the left navigation bar, select Clients.
  2. Locate the client who's focus areas you wish to view and select their Name from the table.
  3. A new set of pages for that client now displays in the left navigation. Select Focus areas.

On the Focus areas page, you see the skills that were recommended to client in the top section. If a client did not choose any recommended skills as their focus areas, you may want to suggest they add one or more of these to their list of focus areas.

The client's organization may have added focus skills for everyone in that organization to work on. In this case, you see the organization's name and focus skills listed at the bottom of the first section of this page.

In the bottom section of the Focus areas page, you see your Client's selected focus areas. These are the skills that should be the main priority in your coaching sessions with them. If you think there are other skills they may want to work on, you can suggest that to them in your next session. The idea of focus areas is to tailor the client's coaching to areas that need improvement. Therefore, you want to ensure that their chosen skills reflect this in order for them to get the most out of their coaching experience.
