Engagement Settings

There are four types of coaching plans your clients may have:

The type of coaching a client has determines how many sessions they have, how long they have on the coaching platform, as well as other details about their coaching experience. Below, you can find information about each of the different types of coaching.

Subscription Coaching

  • No limit on number of sessions: Subscription coaching is a time-based engagement that provides clients with a pre-determined length of coaching. There is no limit on the number of sessions they can complete within this period. Clients are not required to schedule or complete a specific number of sessions during their coaching engagement.
  • Scheduling: The recommended cadence for sessions is every other week, but clients have the flexibility to book as many sessions as they would like before their engagement end date.
  • Access to the platform: There are no extensions. Access to the platform does not go beyond the organization's contract, meaning the allotted engagement time frame is adjusted based on the time the client takes to sign in and go through onboarding. For example, if an organization only has two months left in the contract and launches a new learner, they only have access to book and complete coaching sessions for two months.
  • Manager sessions: With subscription coaching, clients have unlimited manager calls, however, some organizations may choose to omit this from the experience. To see how many 3-way manager calls a client has, reference engagement settings under the client’s profile details. For subscription users, the manager sessions are the same length of time as the regular sessions.
  • Late cancels: For clients with subscription coaching, you are paid your regular rate for late cancels. If a client late cancels three sessions in a row, any remaining sessions they have scheduled are automatically canceled. Email warnings are sent to the client after each late cancel.
  • Session duration: Typically, sessions are 45 minutes, however this may be customized. Please refer to the client details to confirm the duration of their sessions.
  • Plan types:

Session-based Coaching

  • Engagement Duration: Typically, session-based engagements consist of 12 sessions over 180 days, but this may vary.
  • Session Lengths: Sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
  • Plan Names:
    • Standard: 30-minute sessions
    • Semi-Premium: 45-minute sessions
    • Premium: 60-minute sessions
  • Details: Specific engagement details can be found on the Client details page.
  • Engagement Start: The engagement begins once the first session is scheduled and completed.
  • Onboarding: Onboarding is customized, and may or may not have a Leadership assessment, 360° feedback, or Engagement survey. Please review the assessment customization for each client.
  • Manager Calls: If there are manager calls, either 1 or 2 calls between the client, coach and manager are added under the client engagement banner and profile details. These are additional sessions that are scheduled by your client in the platform. Manager calls for session based engagements are 30 minutes in length.
  • Manager Involvement: Clients can share their coaching plan with their manager at any time to get feedback. Managers may also receive periodic feedback requests from the coaching platform. If a manager submits feedback, you receive an alert, and can view their feedback on the client's Exercises page.
  • Percipio Resources: Not all clients have Percipio access. Percipio access is indicated under Client details. If a client has Percipio, you see the Search resources page when you select them from your Clients page.
  • Remeasurement: Remeasurement typically begins 45 days before the engagement ends or after session 8, whichever comes first.

Abridged Coaching

An organization may choose to launch clients on an abridged coaching plan. In this case, the aim of coaching is to help clients identify their most critical areas for improvement and build a development plan that will enable them to grow in their organization.

  • Engagement duration: Participants typically have 30-45 days on the platform and 2-3 coaching sessions.
  • Session length: Each session is typically 60 minutes, though this may differ. Check the Client's details page to see how long their sessions are.
  • Goal: Your goal is to help your client understand their areas that need improvement and their strengths. Challenge your client to think in new ways so they can end their engagement with a solid coaching plan pointing them in the right direction.
  • Onboarding:Onboarding is customized, and may or may not have a Leadership assessment, 360° feedback, or Engagement survey. Please review the assessment customization for each client.
  • Manager sessions: Clients may have one manager session included. You can reference the exact setup of the engagement on the Client details page.

Trial Account

A trial account is a 30-day period where key stakeholders evaluate Skillsoft Coaching. We aim to provide a comprehensive experience of our platform, content, and coaching capabilities, enabling potential clients to make an informed decision.

If a learner is set up with a trial account, you will be alerted to this in the pairing message from Skillsoft. On the Client details page you see TRIAL next to their name on the engagement banner.

  • Goal: The aim of a trial account is for the client to experience the technology, assess the coaching quality, and evaluate session execution. The trial is a no-commitment opportunity that plays a vital role in the decision making process, helping clients to see firsthand the value Skillsoft Coaching can bring to their organization.
  • Engagement duration: Learners receive unlimited coaching access for 30-days beginning upon first login.
  • Onboarding: Onboarding consists of a Leadership assessment, 360° feedback , and Engagement survey.
  • Guide learners: Help learners navigate the platform and make the most of the trial period. Assist them in identifying their personal strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop a Coaching Plan: Collaborate to create a comprehensive coaching plan by the end of the trial, demonstrating the value and potential of Skillsoft coaching.
  • Assign Key Content from SLDP: Assign at least one piece of content from Percipio’s Skillsoft Leadership Development Program. You can locate this in the resources library of the platform. This provides deeper insight into Percipio's high-quality content and how it integrates into the coaching process.
