Desktop Course Play in HTML5 Browsers

• The Skillsoft Mobile Player is transitioning to be the default desktop player for CCA content, and now supports course play in HTML5-compliant browsers on desktops as well as tablets and smartphones.

• The ability to play courses in a Java-free mode on desktops has been added. Note that the following conditions must be met:
  • Courses are launched in an HTML5-compliant browser, such as Internet Explorer v10 and later, and the most recent versions of Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
  • Courses themselves are Java-free. For a list of content types that support Java-free play, see Java-Free Content.

  Reports

  • Reflect Report features: On Reflection pages, learners can enter reflections about the page content. At the end of the course, learners now have the option to generate a printable Reflective Report containing their course reflections.
  • Test Score Report features: Learners can now generate a printable Test Score report by selecting the Completion Status link on the Progress & Tests tab.
• Keyboard shortcuts are now available on the desktop.
• Support for the Drag and Drop template has been added.

Known Issues

Android Issues

• Clicking a read only text area displays the keyboard to edit the browser's address field, which could possibly lead the learner to a different URL and to exiting the player. (CR 141666)
• Clicking on the Email contents from a Reflect Report behaves inconsistently. This is due to a known issue with the native email applications on Android devices. (CR 158528)

  Workaround: Use a different email application, such as the Gmail application.

• The Print/Print page icon does not work on the Test Score Report page. (CR 158747)
• In Google Nexus with Android 4.4 (and later) tablets using Google Chrome browser, exiting full screen mode while viewing videos can result in users hearing the audio but not seeing the video. (CR 173652)

  Workaround: Select the Maximize button in the player to go to full screen viewing, then manually switch back to regular viewing using the tablet's native return button. If your tablet has one, you can also use the native button to control full screen mode.

• In Samsung Galaxy Tab3 with Android 4.x does not work well in the native browser.

  Workaround: Upgrade to the Chrome browser.

Android 4.0.4 Issues

• Certain click/touch actions translate incorrectly in the browser, causing issues with course playback. There is currently no workaround.

  Solution: Upgrade to a newer Android OS version.
