Embedded External Video Block

• In the Outline pane, select the desired page.
• Based on the following, either right-click and select Add Block Template, or select Insert > Add Block Template from the menu. The Add Block Template dialog box displays.
  • If a page node is selected, or you use the Insert menu, the block appears just below the page's header block in the Outline pane.
  • If you use the right-click menu and a block is selected, the new block is added to the Outline pane directly above the selected block.

• In the Add Block Template dialog box, select Embedded External Video Block.
• Select the location for the new block, using the drop down menu. The location for the block will be highlighted in Quick Preview.
• Click OK.
• A new block entitled Embedded External Video Block is added to the Outline pane under the selected page, and to Quick Preview.
• The width of the block is determined by the structure of the page, and the applied styles are determined by the existing blocks on the page.
• In the Design pane, locate the following elements and modify the fields accordingly:
  • Block (ID = block-1-c1) - modify the Title: to display the name of the block in the Outline pane.
  • Block Header: (ID = block-header-1) - modify the Display as: field to change the name displayed in Quick Preview and to your learners.
  • To completely remove the header from the block, leave this field blank

In the Design pane, the new block includes title and heading fields, and a nested list to which you can add multiple videos. For each video, you must select a value for the reference and image fields. You can also add text to display either above or below the video.

• You must create and add an image to display in the required Image Location field. See To create and add an image for each video link below.

Since the new Embedded External Video Block is an overlay block, you can modify all element fields. Once the new block is added, modify the fields associated with the default video place holder.

To add a video to the Embedded External Video Block

1. In the External Video Link: (ID = video-link-1) section:
   1. Enter a Reference (URL) for the desired video.
   2. Click the Embed video with external player check box if your video source has its own embedded video player (for example, a YouTube video). If unsure, it is best to leave this box unchecked.
   3. Enter a Tool Tip for the video.
   4. In the Display as: Image: (ID = image-embedded-1) field, select an image and enter text into the Alt Text and Tool Tip fields.
2. Optionally, modify the accompanying text fields with the Text: (ID = text-1 or text-2) elements.
3. The text-1 element adds text that is automatically displayed in bold font, and is useful as a sub-heading. The text-2 element adds plain text below the text-1 subheading and is useful as descriptive text.
3. If desired, for the Display as: field select Display Text to the top, or accept the default to Display Text to the bottom of the image.

To add additional videos to the list, click Add or Copy and modify the fields as described above.

Skillsoft recommends the following procedure for creating images for each video you add to the list:

1. Play the video and pause it at an appropriate location.
2. Use a screen capture tool to take a screen capture of the video.
3. Use any image editing software to crop the image. Ensure the image size is:
4. Height: 300 pixels
5. Width: 258 pixels
4. Save the image as a jpeg.
5. Link to the image from the Image Location field.
