Percipio Release - January 2018
New features | Enhancements |

Custom content
- You can now curate content from multiple sources with custom channels and linked content.
- A custom channel gives you the ability to create your own channel, either from-scratch or as a derivative of stock channels. Custom channels can contain both linked and stock content.
- Linked content allows you to reference a broad range of externally hosted public, proprietary, and 3rd-party content in Percipio . This includes videos (YouTube and other sources), web articles, podcasts, surveys, and more. You can add any content accessible from a link/URL to Percipio. In addition to standard metadata like title and description, you can also tag linked content for modality, expertise, and technology providing a consistent content discovery experience regardless of the content source.
- For learners, a custom channel looks, feels, and behaves just like stock Percipio channels. Learners can discover and launch custom channels with linked content assets from Search or Browse. For example: a learner can have a custom channel that contains a stock course along with several subject-related linked content assets such as a YouTube video or a relevant TED Talk.
- When a learner launches a linked content asset, it opens in a separate tab in their web browser. Learners can also add the custom channel and linked content assets to their Playlist.
- Content cards have been updated to display the source of linked content assets.
- Custom content is fully supported on the Percipio Mobile app.
Note: If the target content is serviced by an app installed on the user's device (example: YouTube), the content will open in that app. If not, the content will open in the mobile browser. - For assistance with enabling custom content on your Percipio site, please contact your Skillsoft account representative.
Custom branding
- Administrators can now customize the appearance of the main visible elements of Percipio user interface including the site logo, text colors, button colors and imagery.
- Branding changes appear in the web app, the mobile app, and system-generated email notifications.
Embedded Learning Synchronized Assistant (ELSA)
- Easily search for and discover learning content within the context of any web page with ELSA. The initial release of ELSA works exclusively with the Google Chrome web browser.
- You can highlight any term in your browser window and select the Search in Percipio pop-up to launch ELSA. Percipio will return all available content related to the selected search term.
- You can watch videos or listen to audiobooks directly in ELSA. You also have the option to launch the content in the Percipio web app.
- Books and book summaries are discoverable through ELSA, but these assets will only open directly in the Percipio web app.
- ELSA will be available in the Chrome web store on January 31, 2018.
Integration services
- User management APIs for automating the creation, maintenance and deactivation of user accounts based on data from an HRIS or other system.
- Reporting APIs for automating the delivery of learner activity data and other reports to a client’s LMS or data warehouse.
- SFTP services for automating the delivery of file-based reports.
New API reference documentation
Supporting API documentation is now available at api.percipio.com.
SAML-SSO enhancement
A new page for Percipio admins makes it easier to configure SAML single sign-on directly from the web app. The SAML Settings page simplifies and speeds the process to deploy and maintain SSO. Updated report filter
The Date Range Preset filter has been updated with additional options:
- You can select a specific calendar year as a filter option (2017, 2018).
- When filtering by quarter (3,6,9, or 12 months) the filter now includes data to the current date in the report or dashboard.
- Example: if you filter by Last 3 months to date, the data will include the last three full calendar months and any days in the current month. A report run on April 15th will include data from January, February, March and the first 15 days of April.
