AI Settings
The Skillsoft Percipio platform includes certain features which leverage artificial intelligence. At Skillsoft, we are committed to the responsible development and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in our products and services. We strive to be transparent about how and where we use AI and take responsibility for its performance, making sure it operates as intended and taking corrective action when necessary. In addition, we regularly audit and update our algorithms to prevent discriminatory outcomes and ensure fair access to learning opportunities for all users. Finally, we prioritize user privacy and data security. We develop our AI systems with robust safeguards to protect confidentiality and we adhere to the highest standards of data protection. In addition, you can view the Skillsoft Responsible AI statement.
It is with this eye toward privacy and data security that we offer AI settings to help you navigate how AI plays a part in your organization.

AI settings
When on, learners have access to the AI Assistant. Powered by ChatGPT technology, the AI Assistant enables learners to have a dialogue to help them find the exact content needed to meet their learning needs. The learner initiates the interaction by entering a request and the AI Assistant responds with recommended content or a clarifying question.
Decide on the following two settings for AI Assistant interactions:
-
AI optimization and improvement: Decide on the default privacy setting. This setting is on by default. When on, Skillsoft collects the learner side of the AI conversation to help make improvements, this does not include learner personal information, just what the learner enters as input. When it is on, a learner can choose to turn off their setting if they are not comfortable sharing their side of the conversation. When off, Skillsoft will not collect the learner side of the AI conversation and learners can't change their setting to on.
Also, when the AI optimization and improvement setting is off, if learners choose to provide feedback, and check the box: I acknowledge that adding my feedback will share my conversation with Skillsoft to review to improve our software, Skillsoft will collect the entire current conversation (learner and AI responses) up to the point where the learner chose to provide feedback. If the learner continues the conversation after giving feedback, the AI Assistant does not collect any of the new conversation inputs from the learner.
-
Enhanced AI responses: Decide on how the AI Assistant will respond to queries. This setting is on by default. When on, the AI assistant uses the full capability of ChatGPT to generate a response if it first can’t find one within Skillsoft’s guardrails. When off, the AI assistant does not use the full capability of ChatGPT and instead shows a message that it can’t find a response to the query based on Skillsoft’s guardrails.
Read about Skillsoft’s guardrails.

Skillsoft offers CAISY™, a Conversation Artificial Intelligence Simulator. CAISY provides interactive, scenario-based content powered by AI where a learner can practice new skills in a safe space. This AI simulation content allows learners to choose a role, practice specific skills by responding to AI prompts, and receive adaptive, personalized feedback to guide their development.
If you have any one of the Skillsoft Expert collections or the Skillsoft Leadership Development Program, you can make this content visible to learners by turning on the Skillsoft's Conversation AI simulator (CAISY) setting. This setting is on by default for US-based learners. You can check your collection from the License Pools page. Reach out to your Skillsoft account team if you have questions.
If you manage your Skillsoft Compliance content within the Percipio interface and not in the separate Compliance interface, this setting also displays CAISY AI compliance courses in the Percipio library.
To show content generated by CAISY, turn on Skillsoft's Conversation AI simulator (CAISY) setting.
Decide on the default behavior setting when learners start a CAISY simulation. Accepting is selected by default. Learners can change it at any time when starting any scenario. Your options are:
- Defensive: CAISY responds in a way that primarily protects its position against what you input.
- Dismissive: CAISY responds in a way that mainly disregards or minimizes your input.
- Accepting: CAISY responds in a way that is mostly open and receptive to your inputs.
- Random: CAISY randomly selects one of the behaviors.
Decide on the default privacy setting, AI optimization and improvement. When on, Skillsoft collects the learner side of the AI conversation to help make improvements, this does not include learner personal information, only the conversation entered into the CAISY simulator.
If the learner continues the conversation after giving feedback, the CAISY does not collect any of the new conversation inputs from the learner.
For more information on how learners find and interact with the AI simulator content, see CAISY AI Simulator Content. For more information about data usage, guardrails, and security, see the AI Simulator FAQ.
When on, Percipio's search function utilizes ChatGPT technology to respond to the learner's search query provided the query is on the list of highly searched keywords. AI Assisted search then suggests related search terms, and helps clarify ambiguous searches.
If the learner enters a query not on the keyword list, or if the setting is off, search operates without AI assistance, providing standard search results.
For more information about data usage, guardrails, and security, see the AI-assisted search FAQ.
This setting is on by default. When on, Percipio AI will respond as soon as a learner submits a question to the Q&A tab of a Skillsoft course. AI answers will be provided for relevant knowledge-based questions only. If the question is not relevant , AI will not answer. You must also make sure the setting to display the Q&A tab, located on the Engagement & Notifications page under Social Learning, is enabled. You can set up subject matter experts (SME) to monitor AI responses.
