Limited releases
As of December 7, your organization has the opportunity to take advantage of two new features, prior to their formal release to the general public. If your organization is interested in enabling these limited-release features as early adopters, contact your Skillsoft representative.
For learners
A promoted content banner highlights a single piece of content in a visual display at the top of your home page and in the Mobile App. It displays in place of the search bar, which moves to the top of the page, and up to five banners can display via a carousel.
For admins
Why use promoted content banners?
Use banner promotions to highlight specific content items relevant to your learners, and target these promotions to specific groups of learners using audiences. You can also add your own call-to-action and change the promotions at any time to support various objectives your organization may have.
How can my organization set up promoted content banners?
Set up promoted content banners from the Promoted Content page. Click New promotion, then follow the on-screen prompts to create your banners.
What are team audiences?
Team audiences are automatically-created audiences ("automated audiences") you set up using a set of rules that include user attribute values and an assigned team owner. These rules automatically run whenever Percipio detects a change within the rule data, and create new audiences for you.
Why use team audiences?
Using a set of defined rules, you can quickly create multiple audiences and assign those audiences to one or more audience owners in Percipio. Audience owners (both Team Managers and Learning Admins) can access team analytics and, if the owner is a Learning Admin, they can create assignments for their audiences.
Team audiences simplify the process of creating multiple audiences and audience owners in Percipio. You can use them to:
- automatically assign team owners (Learning Admins and Team Managers) to your learners,
- filter reports, and
- create assignments.
How do team audiences work?
- When you select a Percipio User attribute, each value generates an audience, and that Percipio user is automatically set as the audience owner.
- When you select a List attribute, each value generates an audience. You can then assign one or more owners to all of these audiences at once.
For more information, see Team Audiences.
New features
For admins
When enabled, the new Prompt users without email on file to provide security questions and answers setting on the Instance Management page prompts learners without an email address in their user profile to set up security questions on their Account Information page. Once set up, the learner can answer the questions and reset a forgotten password.
For more information, see Feature Settings.
For learners
If you do not have an email address in your Percipio user profile, you may see an option on your Account Information page for security questions and answers. Once you set them up, you can answer the questions and reset a forgotten password.
For more information, see Account Information.
You can now click Forgot Password? on the Mobile App sign in page.
If you have an email address on file in your user profile, you can enter it for a password reset email to be sent to you.
For some Mobile App users, if you do not have an email on file in your user profile and you already set up the security questions and answers in Percipio for the Web, you can use them to reset your password.
From the Notifications page, you can opt to allow learners to earn Digital Badges upon completing select assets within Percipio. Enabling Digital Badges reduces your administrative efforts, increases adoption, and drives learner engagement within the organization.
Digital Badges will be available to learners in January 2020.
For more information, see the Notifications page.
Enhancements
Search filters now include the asset count for the Expertise type. When you select an expertise level, the number of search results match the selected level. All other counts update to reflect the filtered results.
For more information about filters, see Search.
You can now add additional search terms when creating or editing external links.
For more information, see Create an External Link.
When a user profile does not contain a password, Percipio allows the import of a password for that user via the newPassword
column on the bulk import CSV file.
If a password already exists in the user's profile, or if the user created or updated their own password, any value entered in the newPassword
column on the bulk import CSV file is not imported into Percipio and does not overwrite the existing password.
For more information, see the newPassword row in the CSV field values table on the Download a CSV File page.
Now when you receive a call or launch media from an outside app such as YouTube, your course or audiobook playback automatically pauses.
Coming soon
Skillsoft is excited to share that in January 2020, Digital Badges will be issued to learners within Percipio. These badges reward learners for their accomplishments, and they provide positive, visual, shareable records that drive continuous learner engagement and satisfaction.
As of December 7, if your Percipio site is hosted in the United States, you can manage the visibility of Digital Badges to your learners when they launch in January. By default, Digital Badges are enabled on your site.
What are Digital Badges?
Digital Badges are visual, shareable, and portable records of accomplishment that enable learners to market and socialize their achievements and growth. They are built on the Open Badges specification.
Why should my organization keep Digital Badges enabled?
Digital Badges help you to drive engagement and offer an impactful alternative to traditional credentialing. They also:
- encourage learners with lasting, transferable recognition,
- motivate and reward your learners, enabling them to socialize their achievements and growth, and
- increase utilization of both the Percipio platform and Skillsoft content.
How do I enable Digital Badges for my learners?
By default, Digital Badges are enabled on your site, but learners will not see them until January 2020. If you need to disable them, you can do so on the Notifications page.
Skillsoft is offering the ability to hide Digital Badges for some organizations. Contact your Skillsoft representative for more information.
