User Activity Data

No matter how your users launch content hosted by the Skillsoft Platform, the platform collects activity data. Skillsoft can deliver this data to a variety of systems for centralized collection, analysis and reporting, so you no longer need to sign in to Skillsoft Platform Admin to run reports.

Note: Export of Percipio Compliance data is not supported through these methods. Please contact your Skillsoft Account Team for available options.

You can export data from the platform in several ways, including:

As a Skillsoft Platform site admin, you can use Skillsoft Platform Analytics options to view dashboards and reports. When you find the data you want, you can export the data as a CSV file.

The platform can be scheduled to deliver selected reports daily to an SFTP server in a CSV file format, the same as you get when you manually export them. After the file is on the SFTP server, you can collect it and process this data. When using this option, you can choose to PGP encrypt the data that is uploaded to the SFTP server.

The only report currently available for automatic export is the Learner Activity report, which provides metrics on learner engagement with content and Digital Badges earned.

The Experience API (or xAPI) is a specification for learning technology that makes it possible to collect data about a wide range of experiences a person has (online and offline).

The platform functions as a Learning Record Provider (LRP) previously known as an Activity Provider (AP) in xAPI parlance.

As an LRP, the platform can send learning record statements to an organization’s Learning Record Store (LRS). These learning record statements are in the form of actor, verb, object.

You can choose to have your developers use the Skillsoft Platform's comprehensive set of REST APIs to automatically generate and download selected reports.

These HTTP-based RESTful APIs use bearer tokens for authorization. All API request and response bodies are formatted in JSON. All Skillsoft Platform APIs are documented using OpenAPI.

The reports currently available for API export include:

  • Learner Activity Report: The Learner Activity report provides metrics on learner engagement with content and Digital Badges earned.
  • Content Access Report: The Content Access report details what content users in your organization are accessing and how many Digital Badges they earned.
