SFTP Management

SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) allows for secure file transfer between Percipio and the sites of your learning ecosystem. The Percipio scheduled processes that require a SFTP are Bulk User Import, Content Export, and Learner Activity Export. With these processes, files are generated and securely transferred to a SFTP server by one system and then picked up from that server and processed by another.

Multiple SFTP configurations can be created to support different processes. Configurations support both Skillsoft-hosted and your company-owned SFTP sites. Authentication options include Basic (username and password), PKI (private key), and dual authentication using both Basic and PKI.

Users with the Percipio role of site admin can access SFTP settings.

If you are a site admin, from Site Setting > System Integration > SFTP Management, you can:

• Create and manage an SFTP site that you own that Percipio can use for file transfer.
• Create and manage an Skillsoft-hosted SFTP site that you can use for file transfer.

Use of SFTP in the import and export processes

Bulk User Import

With Bulk User Import, your HRIS or similar system generates a user import file based on the Percipio User management template and exports it to an SFTP server folder. Percipio then retrieves the file and runs the bulk user import process. For more details, see Bulk User Import.

Learner Activity Export

With the Learner Activity Export, Percipio generates a file with learner activity data for a specific time frame and exports it to the SFTP server. Your system then retrieves the file from the SFTP server and processes it based on your needs. For more details, see Learner Activity Export.

Content Export

The Content Export is used with a platform integration. With Content Export, Percipio generates a content metadata file based on a specific transform and exports it to the SFTP server. Your system then retrieves the file from the SFTP server and processes it based on your needs.

Scheduled Reports Export

When you schedule reports to run automatically on a recurring basis, you can have those reports go to an SFTP site. That SFTP site can be managed by your company or by Skillsoft.
