The Skillport 8 Books Limited View
Starting with Skillport 8 Patch 40, TPLMS users can access Book and Video assets through the Skillport interface. This view is a modified version of the Skillport UI which restricts access to book and video assets to which the learner is entitled. Additionally, this version suppresses other features such as access to the Admin interface, and security password links.
Background
In Skillport 7.x, TPLMS customers using the Skillsoft Content Server access courses from their LMS, but book and video assets are accessed directly from the Books24x7 interface, which is a separate interface from the Skillport UI.
In Skillport 8, Skillsoft courses, books and videos are fully merged into one easy-to-use platform, and the separate books platform is no longer available. Since most TPLMS users track and report course activity and completion status through their TPLMS, allowing access to courses through the Skillport LMS would interfere with these capabilities.
The new Skillport 8 Books Limited View resolves this issue by allowing learners access to books and videos, while preventing them from accessing or launching courses or other assets.
