Testing Skillsoft Books & Video Content

Use the following process to obtain SCORM 1.2 test PIF packaged content and validate the content works within your LMS platform.

Loading the test content into your LMS

1. Download the SCORM 1.2 test courses.
2. Extract all the files.
3. Load the course files for the asset type you wish to test from the /Skillsoft_Books_and_Videos_Content/SCORM folder appropriate for your LMS.
   • Skillsoft Books & Videos Portal: The files will be prefixed with _addon_001
   • Skillsoft Books & Videos Portal - Specific Catalog Folder from Browse View: The files will be prefixed with _addon_books_001_{folderid}

     Note: The {folderid} is a 32 character string containing a mix of letters and numbers, as shown in the following example: _addon_books_001_e484096c1240d7e17624190e893b506f

   • Skillsoft Books & Videos Portal - Specific Book or Video: The files will be prefixed with {assetid}

     Note: The {assetid} is a numeric value, as shown in the following example: 130431

Completion criteria

For the purpose of testing, the supplied test courses will only send a status of INCOMPLETE.

This means a COMPLETE status will never be returned to the LMS.

Recommended test process

1. Create new user account in the LMS.
2. Assign a Books test link (course) to this account.
3. Login to the LMS as the new user.  
4. Launch the Books link. 
5. Confirm the SkillPort Books View interface loads and you can access the content. 
6. Exit the SkillPort Books View, and return to the LMS. 
7. Confirm the Book status in the LMS shows the appropriate message for a session that is INCOMPLETE.
