How Assigned Content Displays in a Learning Plan

When an admin or manager assigns learning content to a learner using Skillport Administrator, those content items display inside of sets on the Assigned Learning tab of that learner's learning plan. Content within sets can be completable, but sets themselves are not.

Sets display in the following order:

1. General Set

   The General set displays first on the learner's Assigned Learning tab. The General set contains individually assigned assets (content items and series) that display in the following order:

   1. Content items, such as courses or KnowledgeCenters, that are not associated with a series display by due date in descending order, from oldest (first) to newest (last).
   2. Series display as subsets of the General set and are listed after all the non-series content items.

      A series contains specifically-ordered assets whose order is important for learners. A series can contain assets of different types, but it cannot contain Books and Videos. It is often used to:

      • Group related assets together (for example, the assets required to obtain a certification).
      • Maintain a specific order when displayed in the Library.

      A series itself cannot be completed, but the assets within the series may be completable.

      Note: A Series is a special type of folder that can be created in Admin > Content > Library. Select a normal folder in the Edit Contents panel, then click New Folder and select Series. For more information about how to create and manage a Series see Create a Custom Series.

      Within a series, content items display in the same order in which they display in the Library. The learner can complete the content in any order (the order presented is not enforced).

2. Development Plan Set (if enabled)
3. Evaluation Set (if enabled)
4. Library Sets

   Library Sets are pre-defined sets of content within the Library that display when a learner clicks Browse the Library, or on the left side of the page when browsing the Library.

   In the Learning Plan, assigned Library Sets display at the bottom of the list and adhere to the following rules:

   • Library Sets display in the order in which they were assigned, from oldest (first) to newest (last).
   • Content items within a Library Set are displayed in an unordered list. The learner can complete the content in any order (the order presented is not enforced).
   • A Library Set may contain both assets and sub-folders with assets. However, in the Learning Plan all assets in the top-level folder and in the sub-folders are displayed under the top-level heading. The sub-folders are not displayed.

Example:

Using Skillport Administrator, you've assigned Jane the following content:

• Business Skills, a Library Set
• What is leadership?, a course
• Leadership Essentials, a Series within the Skillport Library (Note that in Skillport Administrator the folder icon contains lines.)
• Business Performance in a Challenging Economy, a KnowledgeCenter

Jane's Learning Plan View

In Jane's Assigned Learning tab, the General Set displays first. With the General Set expanded, Jane can see the assigned course and KnowledgeCenter. She can also see the Series which is displayed after the individually assigned assets.

Jane's Development Plan displays on the same level as the General Set. Her assigned Library Set displays last, also at the same level as the General Set.
