Visual Animations

Visual animations do not need to have instructional value, as they are used to enhance the visual appeal of a topic or draw the learner's attention to a specific feature. Visual effect animations trigger automatically, and should be between 1.5 and 2 seconds long on average. The maximum duration of a visual effect animation is 3 seconds.

Specific use of visual effect animations includes:

• Introducing the initial graphics in a graphic build
• Transitioning between logical chunks of content
• Highlighting an on-screen element
