Multiple choice questions present the learner with a question or problem (the stem) and a list of options, consisting of correct answer choices and distractor (incorrect) answer choices. Multiple choice questions test the following:
Knowledge of terminology, specific facts, principles, concepts, methods, or processes
Comprehension of principles, concepts, rules, or processes
Application of rules, principles, and concepts
Analysis levels of cause and effect relationships
Multiple choice questions can take the following formats:
A multiple-answer multiple choice question, where at least two options are correct
A single-answer multiple choice question, where one option is correct
A dichotomous question (includes True/False and Yes/No questions), where there are two options, only one of which is correct
Differences between the Multiple Choice Templates
The Multiple Choice Standard template supports full graphic functionality.
The Multiple Choice Wide template has no graphic support.
In the Multiple Choice Graphics Options template, up to 5 questions can be graphics.
In the Multiple Choice Fill-in Code template, the answers are code-based and must be typed in by the learner.
