In the Short Answer Graphic template, learners must respond to a question by entering an answer into an input field in the player. Learners can type and re-type the answer until they feel it is correct, then submit it by clicking Done. If the answer is incorrect and the learner is in Practice Mode, they can click Show Me to display the correct answer in the input field.
The input field is within a graphic, which provides context to the question. The graphic can be:
A component of a basic concept
A simulated user interface
A code sample
The input field is specified within the Code/Text Editor and can be moved around on the Graphics tab. The input field is sized automatically according to the correct answer; if the learner types an answer that is longer than the correct answer, the box does not expand.
Short answer questions can be used to practice or test at the knowledge, comprehension, application, and analysis levels of learning. Use short answer questions to practice or test:
A knowledge of terminology, specific facts, symbols, and classifications
The ability to solve scientific and mathematical problems
The application of rules and interpretation of data
The recall, application, or analysis of code, syntax, or commands
