Tools Menu

The Tools menu lists the various tools available in SkillStudio and their associated keyboard shortcuts (if applicable):

• Duration: Displays the:
  • Production Word Count
  • Duration Word Count
  • Course Duration Information
  • Test Duration Word Count
  • Alt Text Word Count
  • Localization Word Count
  • Audio Word Count
• Find and Replace: Finds and/or replaces text in the course.
• Spell Check: Checks the spelling within the course.
• Final Publish: Publishes your course to the default location: C:\SkillSoft\source\<course_name>\output
• Publish to SkillPort: Publishes, packages and uploads your course and to a valid SkillPort site(s).
• Generate Resources: Run this to view acknowledgements in the Previewer; also generates course resources for viewing in the player.
• Cleanup: Removes unused files within the entire course or a selected component prior to publishing the course.
• Audio Pick-up List: Shows the audio and all associated information for the selected component.
• Batch Convert Audio: Converts multiple .wav and .we files from one audio format to another.
• Audit: Runs the audit.
• Generate Course Index: Generates an index of key terms and concepts from keywords found throughout the course and is editable during course creation through the Course Index Editor. The Course Index is viewable in the Player in the Resources and Settings Dialog.
• Generate Resources/Transcripts: Run this to view acknowledgments in the Previewer; also generates course resources or transcripts for viewing in the player.
• Find Object: Provides a search for a course component name or ID (you can also scroll through a listing of all components in a course), then brings you directly to the page. Findings are listed alphabetically.
• Options: Opens the Options window where you can:
  • view recent searches
  • change the number of recent files to list in the File menu
  • turn on/off debugging
  • change the Preview server port
  • turn on/off the Use signed applet option to allow the new JREs to run the signed applet (by default, this is turned on)
  • configure the preferred default preview player (options include HTML5 (Desktop, Desktop-Accessible, Tablet, and Phone) and Java-Dependent)
  • change display options for the graphics grid
  • change zip options
