Use the Course Index Editor to view and edit the words that will be indexed for the course. Select a letter from the alphabetized drop-down menu on the left (2) to view keywords starting with that letter in the Keyword Pane (3). You can then decide to add words via the Input Field (1) or delete words (4) in order to produce a more meaningful Course Index.
Within the Course Index Editor, you can:
Delete keywords and/or compound keyword phrases from the Course Index word list.
There are several ways to generate a Course Index:
Select Tools |Generate Course Index.
The Course Index Editor will display, allowing you to make additions or edits to the Course Index prior to viewing it.
Preview the Full Course by selecting View| Preview | Generate Course Index.
The Course Index Editor displays, allowing you to make additions or edits to the Course Index prior to viewing the course preview.
Note: The Course Index can only be viewed in the player if you perform a full course preview.
Final Publish a Course by selecting Tools | Final Publish. During the final publish, the Course Index Editor displays, allowoing you to make additions or edits to the Course Index prior to final publish.
Note:You must confirm that the Course Index is valid in order to complete your final publish of the course.
Select a letter from the alphabetized drop down menu on the left (1).
A list of keywords for that letter displays in the Keyword Pane (2). If this pane is empty, there are no keywords to be indexed for that letter.
Return to the drop down menu to make additional letter selections. As you select different letters, the keywords associated with these letters will appear in the Keyword Pane.
To add keywords or phrases to the list of words that will be indexed, use the Input Field (1)found at the top of the Course Index Editor.
Enter the desired keyword or compound keyword phrase into the Input Field and click Add Phrase to place the term in the Keyword Pane.
New keywords and phrases that you enter will automatically be added to the appropriate alphabetical list.
Note: Keywords can be single words, phrases or even sentences. To add multiple words as a keyword phrase, the words must be added as a group in the input field.
To clear the Input Field without entering the keyword, select Clear.
To clear a keyword after you have added it to the Keyword Pane, locate the term in the panel on the left and select the Delete Keyword(s) button.
As you edit the list of keywords, you may decide to restore a deleted keyword to the the main list within the Keyword Pane.
To restore deleted Keywords
Highlight the word(s) in the Deleted keywords list and click the Restore Keyword(s) button to return the word(s) to the main keyword list, where the words will be added to the keyword list under the associated letter.
You can use the Ctrl key to select multiple words to restore to the keyword pane together.
You can use the Shift key to select a range of words to restore to the keyword pane together.
