Configure Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)

This procedure is for a Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.0. The locations where these features are accessed may differ slightly in other versions.

1. Open the IIS Administrator.
2. Right-click the web server folder where the LMS server software is installed, then select New > Virtual Directory.

   The Virtual Directory Creation Wizard opens. Click the Next button to begin creating a new virtual directory.

3. In the Alias field, enter Skillsoft and click Next.
4. In the Directory field either enter the path of the physical directory where you installed the Skillsoft components or click the Browse button and navigate to the appropriate directory (default is C:\SkillSoft\Web). Click Next.
5. In the Allow the Following field, select Read and Run Scripts.
6. Click Next, then click Finish to create the directory.

   The Skillsoft Virtual directory appears in the IIS directory tree.

7. Right click on the Skillsoft Virtual directory and select Properties. The properties dialog appears.
8. Select the HTTP Headers tab.
   1. Click the File Types button in the Mime Map section.
   2. Click the New Type button.
   3. Type sso for the Associated Extension.
   4. Type application/skillsoft-ocm for the Mime Type.
9. Restart IIS.
   • If you ARE using the LMS, the web server setup is now complete.
   • If you ARE NOT using the LMS, ensure the default html document in the virtual directory is named index.html. Access this function through the documents tab in the virtual directory's properties dialog.
