LMS-specific notes for Skillsoft AICC content
AICC Content Importation:
Import content to LMS as AICC ¦ URL
LMS Status:
Where the content is imported by the URL Method or AICC Metadata is imported with a null mastery score, Saba displays a completion status based on the lesson_status posted by the player.
Lesson Status:
Saba 5.3 displays the Lesson Status as posted by the Skillsoft player e.g. Incomplete, Completed, or Passed.
Module Status:
Saba displays a Module Status of Not Evaluated until the user has reached some form or completion at the lesson level (passed, failed or completed) at which stage a Module status of Successful or Unsuccessful is displayed depending on the Lesson Status achieved.
• Where AICC Metadata files (with mastery scores configured) are imported.
Saba reports a completion status of Failed in response to the player posting a score below mastery.
Saba reports a completion status of Passed in response to the player posting a score above mastery.
Courses are moved to the Transcript after attempting an assessment.
Where the player posted a score below the mastery, the course is given a status of Unsuccessful.
Where the player posted a score above the mastery, the course is given a status of Successful.
Saba V5.x Course level v Module Level Results:
It is standard Saba 5.x functionality that Module level results are not updated until the user has reached some form or completion at the lesson level (passed, failed or completed) so that the completion status is displayed as ‘Not Evaluated’ until completed. The screenshot below shows Module level results in Saba v5.4 which are displayed when user exits a course that’s not yet completed.
The screenshot below shows Lesson (Course) level results Saba v5.4 which are displayed when user
exits a course that’s not yet completed.
Potential Issue re: moving of courses to the Transcript in Saba v5.x:
With player property INCREMENTAL_COURSE_SCORE=false the Player will not send back a score to the LMS until all lesson level tests or an overall course test have been accessed. When a student doesn’t achieve mastery after a full course test has been accessed, the course assessment is considered unsuccessful and moved to My Transcript. Where this behavior is not desired, the following will ensure that a course is not moved to My Transcript until the user has achieved a mastery score.
A URL import will avoid the possibility of a course being moved to My Transcript in the event of a user achieving a test score below Mastery. Saba will look to Lesson_status to determine what should be put in Transcript vs. Enrollments.
Alternatively change .au mastery to null by removing the mastery_score integer from the .au file prior to importing them. Saba will again look to Lesson_status to determine what should be put in Transcript vs. Enrollments.
