General Notes for SCORM TPLMS Deployment

This section provides information about hosting Skillsoft SCORM content on TPLMS in general. The LMS-specific notes in the next section cover exceptions.

Descriptive Metadata is not parsed from course manifest file during import:

• When importing Skillsoft SCORM content, most TPLMS do not parse descriptive metadata from the course SCORM metadata files. A descriptive metadata reference does not reside in the imsmanifest.xml in the place that most TPLMS expect. Incomplete descriptive metadata is therefore displayed on the TPLMS for the course.

  Workaround: A workaround for some LMS platforms is to edit the installervalues.properties before installing the content and set the following values:

  MetadataInManifest=true

  MetadataInOrganization=true

  MetadataInItem=true

  MetadataInResource=true

  This ensures that metadata is referenced in multiple areas of the imsmanifest file and increases the likelihood of the LMS locating it when importing the SCORM content. This issue has been reported to Skillsoft Engineering.

NLS SCORM Progress Tracking:

• In order for NLS content to track as SCORM on TPLMS the following value must be set in the SBPlayer.cfg file:

  MandatoryLMS=2

NLS Course marked failed when score below Mastery is achieved

• When a score below mastery is achieved on an NLS course, the player sends a ‘failed’ lesson_status which on some TPLMS results in the course being marked as Failed and moved to the Training Transcript.

  Workaround: Ensure the following value is set in the SBPlayer.cfg file.

  LMSCompletion=1

KNet Content launch problem where TPLMS launches SCORM content in a pop-up window:

• When attempting to launch KNet SCORM content on a TPLMS where SCORM content is launched in a pop-up window rather than a frameset, the following error message is returned:

  "Error: Unable to find an API Adaptor"

  

  Where SCORM content is launched within an LMS frame, KNet courses launch as expected. However in TPLMS where SCORM content launches in a pop-up window, KNet content does not launch. This possibly points to a problem with the API detection code in the KNET player. An issue report is with Skillsoft Engineering.

SkillSim SCORM session time not accurately tracking:

• By default, the SkillSim player sends multiple SetValues during a session with each SetValue reporting the time elapsed since the last SetValue rather than the time elapsed since the start of the session. This results in the LMS under-reporting the time spent by users playing SkillSim SCORM content.

  Workaround: Ensure the following value is set in the simpageplayer.properties file:

  FULL_SESSION_TIME=true
