Installation Prerequisites

To install WIX

1. Install the WIX Toolset.

   Note: The MSI generation process uses the WIX v3.0 toolset, which is downloadable here. You must have installed the WIX Tool v3.0 in order to generate the MSI.

2. After installing the WIX tool, set an environment variable:
   • Variable name: WIX
   • Variable value: the path to WIX installation folder. Ex: C:\Program Files\Windows Installer XML v3\

Run the SkillSoft Content Installer Kit (CIK) to install the necessary "source" files for the MSI generation. It is recommended that you perform a Custom Installation this can choose to install all the necessary files, all players supported locales and all the SkillSoft supported locales.

Note: The CIK is normally used for installing content to a Web Server, however for generating the MSI a web server is not required. The files can alternately be installed to a local folder on the user's machine.

Once you have installed the source files, you will need to configure the SCM to match your site configuration. Please contact your SkillSoft Application Engineer for guidance on this process.

Note: Each locale has its own OCM.INI file, so ensure that all locales are configured before proceeding.
