Upload Content

You can upload a range of course content based on the content types available in Skillsoft Publisher, which include the following: AICC, Dialogue Design, Passive, SCORM 1.2 RTE, SCORM 2004, SkillStudio, SCORM, and Packaged Content.

To upload content

  1. If you are uploading an updated course, read Important Notes About Updating to prevent course corruption.
  2. Click the Publish tab, if it is not already displayed.
  3. Select the content type using the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Next. The Upload Content page displays.
  5. The Upload Content page differs based on the selected content type.
  6. Enter the upload criteria for the relevant content type:

    Upload Criteria

    AICC

    • Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided.
    • Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator.
    • (Required) Click Browse to select the file you wish to upload.
    • Click Browse to select the folder containing the metadata file(s) you wish to upload.
    • This is only required if the metadata files are not in the course folder or if there is no publish file within this course.
    • Enter the destination folder on the content server.

    Dialogue Design

    SCORM

    SCORM 1.2 RTE

    SCORM 2004

    SkillStudio

    • Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided.
    • Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator.
    • (Required) Click Browse to select the file you wish to upload.
    • You can upload CCA video content through Dialogue Design and SkillStudio.
    • You can upload a CCA video course with a maximum file size of 1 GB.

    Passive

    You can upload Microsoft Word documents (.doc,.docx), Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, HTML pages, PDF documents, and media files (.wmv, .mp4, .mp3, .wav and other formats).

    • PDF documents that have an apostrophe (') character in the file name will not launch in the Passive Player. Ensure that the file name does not contain this character prior to uploading the PDF.
    • (Required) Click Browse to select the launch file you wish to upload.
    • Select the check box to include all files from the Launch folder. All content to be uploaded should be in the folder that contains the launch file.

    Packaged Content

    • Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided.
    • Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator.
    • (Required) Click Browse to select the (.par) file you wish to upload.
  8. Click Upload. The Publisher runs a virus check on the file. The Publish File Data page displays.
    1. You can upload a course with a maximum file size of 1 GB.
  9. Enter details for the mandatory and optional fields to begin the publishing process.
  10. Click Next.
  11. The Publisher performs a static check, converts the course for use with Skillport, and packages the content. The Package Details page displays.
    1. If an error occurs during conversion, the Convert Course page displays with the course and error details with the suggested action. You can save the error report or perform the conversion again using the relevant buttons provided.
  12. Click Publish to Preview to view the contents in a preview site.
    1. This option is only available if preview sites have been enabled by your administrator.
  13. Click Publish to Production to directly publish the content. If you want to make any changes to the course information, click Edit Course.
  14. When all circles except for Publish Content are complete, a message prompts you to preview (if enabled) your content. Click OK to preview your content, or click Cancel to continue with the publishing process.
  15. Click Start to publish your content to the selected production site. A message displays asking you to confirm the publication.
  16. Click OK.
  17. Your content publishes to the production site.

Once your content is published to the production site, choose Upload same course to publish the same content to another production site or Upload another course to publish a different course.
