Upload Content

You can upload a range of course content based on the content types available in Skillsoft Publisher, which include the following: AICC, Dialogue Design, Passive, SCORM 1.2 RTE, SCORM 2004, SkillStudio, SCORM, and Packaged Content.

Ensure your courses are zipped into a single .zip or .par file according to the format outlined in the topic Create a Zip File for Publishing.

To upload content

If you are uploading an updated course, read Important Notes About Updating to prevent course corruption.
Click the Publish tab, if it is not already displayed.
Select the content type using the drop-down menu.
Click Next. The Upload Content page displays.
The Upload Content page differs based on the selected content type.
Enter the upload criteria for the relevant content type:

Content Type	Upload Criteria
AICC	Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided. Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator. (Required) Click Browse to select the file you wish to upload. Click Browse to select the folder containing the metadata file(s) you wish to upload. This is only required if the metadata files are not in the course folder or if there is no publish file within this course. Enter the destination folder on the content server.
Dialogue Design SCORM SCORM 1.2 RTE SCORM 2004 SkillStudio	Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided. Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator. (Required) Click Browse to select the file you wish to upload. You can upload CCA video content through Dialogue Design and SkillStudio. You can upload a CCA video course with a maximum file size of 1 GB.
Passive	You can upload Microsoft Word documents (.doc,.docx), Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, HTML pages, PDF documents, and media files (.wmv, .mp4, .mp3, .wav and other formats). PDF documents that have an apostrophe (') character in the file name will not launch in the Passive Player. Ensure that the file name does not contain this character prior to uploading the PDF. (Required) Click Browse to select the launch file you wish to upload. Select the check box to include all files from the Launch folder. All content to be uploaded should be in the folder that contains the launch file.
Packaged Content	Select the site you want to upload to from the options provided. Preview sites are only available if they have been enabled by your administrator. (Required) Click Browse to select the (.par) file you wish to upload.

Click Upload. The Publisher runs a virus check on the file. The Publish File Data page displays.
1. You can upload a course with a maximum file size of 1 GB.

Enter details for the mandatory and optional fields to begin the publishing process.

Mandatory and Optional Fields

Fields with an asterisk (*) are required for use with the Skillsoft Custom Content Publishing Solution. Fields with double asterisk (**) are required for Passive content only.

Field Name	Description
Title*	Supplies the override to the title if it is to be different than what is in the standards-based package. This field is required for passive content, since it must have a title for installation to Skillport and passive content has no standards-based packaging files. This field is optional for all other types of content.
Description**	This description displays on the launch page.
Course Objective	Displays on the launch page.
Prerequisites**	These prerequisites for the course display on the launch page.
Target Audience**	This contains a description of the content's target audience and displays on the launch page.
Course Duration (minutes)	This displays the duration of the course in minutes, and displays on the launch page.
Course Language*	This describes the course language, which displays on the launch page. You can use one of the following valid codes: "ja" (Japanese) "ko" (Korean) "tr" (Turkish) "enUS" (English-US) "el" (Greek) "esDO" (Spanish-Latin America) "nl" (Dutch) "enUK" (English-UK) "it" (Italian) "fr" (French) "ru" (Russian) "zhyue" (Chinese Cantonese) "zh" (Chinese Mandarin) "esES" (Spanish-Castilian) "ptbr" (Portuguese Brazilian) "zhtw" (Chinese Traditional) "frCA" (French-Canadian) "pl" (Polish) "de" (German) The language codes used in the SCP are not always the same as the language codes contained here. In the case where the language codes are different, Publisher must translate to the player language code from its own set.
Search Keywords	Enter search words to help you find a course. When entering multiple words, separate them with commas only (do not include any spaces).
Vendor**	The company or vendor that created the content.
Content Version*	This contains the content version in the format major.minor, for example, 1.4.
Skillsoft Course Manager (SCM) Download	This switches on or off the ability to download the course and play it offline. The default value is Yes. Downloading courses doubles the file size and your required storage space.
Mobile ready	This option is only available for SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, and Passive content. This option does not display for SkillStudio or Dialogue Design content; whether a course is mobile-ready or not is specified during course creation. Select one of the options to tag a course for mobile use: No: Does not include mobile tags in the course metadata. This is the default option. Smartphone & tablet: Includes tags in the course metadata to indicate the course can be launched on both smartphones and tablets. Tablet only: Includes tags in the course metadata to indicate the course can be launched on tablets. Once the course is tagged for mobile use and then published to Skillport, mobile users can search for and launch the course content. Tagging a course as mobile-ready does not convert the content of a course to a mobile format. Ensure you follow all mobile content creation guidelines prior to publishing the course to Skillport.
Course ID - Content Type Code*	Specific to the course type.
Course ID - Company Code*	Your company code issued by Skillsoft.
Course ID - Unique Identifier*	Must be unique for each piece of content developed. Maximum Course ID Character Restrictions The course ID is limited to a maximum of 64 characters, and the course folder (defined while creating the zip file for upload) is limited to a maximum of 75 characters. However, if the course ID is less than 64 characters, you can increase the maximum characters in the folder name, by a ratio of -1 course ID character to +2 folder characters. This is because the course ID name is included by default in the folder name so it appears twice within the full path name. For example: if your course ID is my_course_version_1, the full path will include "...\my_course_version_1_packaged\my_course_version_1\.zip."
Toolbar	This property determines if the window should have a toolbar. Select Yes or No.The default value is No.
Resizable	This property determines if the window should be resizable. Select Yes or No.The default value is No.
Scrollable	This property determines if the window should have a scrollbar. Select Yes or No.The default value is No.
Player Window Height	This describes the height of the window that displays the content if there is not a default value.
Player Window Width	This describes the width of the window that displays the content if there is not a default value.
Player Location Left	This property determines if the window location placement is near the left side of the screen.
Player Location Top	This property determines if the window location placement is near the top of the screen.
Launch file**	This file points to the file or URL. Displays for Passive content only.
Passive player version	This describes the passive player version number. The format is major.minor, for example, 1.6.
Passive directory*	This describes the path to the passive directory. To specify the current directory set this property to "." If set, the content of this directory will be copied into the passive course folder. The passive launch file must be within this directory.

Click Next.
The Publisher performs a static check, converts the course for use with Skillport, and packages the content. The Package Details page displays.
1. If an error occurs during conversion, the Convert Course page displays with the course and error details with the suggested action. You can save the error report or perform the conversion again using the relevant buttons provided.
Click Publish to Preview to view the contents in a preview site.
1. This option is only available if preview sites have been enabled by your administrator.
Click Publish to Production to directly publish the content. If you want to make any changes to the course information, click Edit Course.
When all circles except for Publish Content are complete, a message prompts you to preview (if enabled) your content. Click OK to preview your content, or click Cancel to continue with the publishing process.
Click Start to publish your content to the selected production site. A message displays asking you to confirm the publication.
Click OK.
Your content publishes to the production site.

Once your content is published to the production site, choose Upload same course to publish the same content to another production site or Upload another course to publish a different course.

Publisher also allows you to upload Knowledge Center and Skillsoft Leadership Advantage Packages.
