Add Selected Compliance Content

You can choose which compliance courses you want to deploy or choose to deploy all of them. If you want to deploy all courses, you can follow the instructions on this page or work with your Skillsoft account team to set up an FTP site.

When you choose to select some or all courses, you download them as AICC .zip packages. Each course has its own AICC zip package named according to the Course number appended by the Content ID.

The process to integrate selected Skillsoft Compliance contentClosed This includes content from the Legal, and Environmental, Safety & Health collections. This content resides in the Percipio Compliance interface. with your LMS is:

  1. Test content

  2. Select content

  3. Download content

  4. Deploy to your LMS

Test content

Before you deploy compliance content, we recommend that you test it. See Testing content for integration for detailed instructions and test packages.

Select content

Once you know which compliance content you want to deploy, follow the process to create a Content rule set:

  1. From the left navigation bar, select Site Settings, then System Integration, then select Content Selection and Sync.
  2. Select Manage Content Rules and then Create content rule.
  3. Select Compliance Content. Compliance content includes courses from the Legal, and Environmental, Safety & Health collections. If you want to create a rule for non-compliance Skillsoft content, see Select content for your catalog.
  4. On the page that displays, click edit icon, blue pencil next to Untitled Rule to add a name for the rule. Click Save.
  5. Choose your Selection type.
    • Start with all content selected: select this option if you are looking to include one of your full compliance collections.
    • Start with no content selected: select this option if you only want to select specific compliance courses from each collection. This option works well for systems that can only import small amount of content at a time.
  6. Back on the Manage Content Rule set page, you can add more rules at this time by selecting Create content rule and following steps 4 and 5, or you can proceed to download your compliance content for deployment.

You can create as many rules as you want. Consider the following:

    • When exporting or deploying content, the selection process always uses the Content rule set of all active rules.
    • Once a rule is active, it will run as part of the Content rule set. To prevent a rule from running, delete it.
    • If you are not ready to export or deploy the content associated with a rule, save the rule as a draft. You can review and add a rule at any time.
    • You can edit a rule at any time. If you edit an active rule, you cannot save it in a draft state. If you edit a draft rule, you can save it back as a draft.
    • You can remove or delete a rule at any time.
    • Any changes you make to a rule or the Content rule set impact the content in the next export or deployment.

Start with all compliance content selected

If you select Start with all Content Selected:

  1. Select Next step. All compliance collections are selected by default.
  2. Unselect any collection that you do not want to include in your catalog .
  3. Click Review and add rule.
  4. Review the rule details
  5. Select Save as draft to save your rule to the Content rule set, but not make it active. Select Add rule to activate your rule within the Content rule set.

Start with no content selected

If you selected Start with no content selected:

  1. In the Search bar enter the compliance title or course code of the item you want to add. Matching results appear in one of the three tabs: ES&H, Legal, or Other.
    • If you enter search terms and no result are found, select a different tab.
    • You find courses that are not regulatory under the Other tab, such as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion courses.
    • If you license Certitude, selecting Certitude content from the Other tab may lead to unexpected behavior in your LMS. If you want to import Certitude content, please contact your Skillsoft Account Team for best results.
  2. Select the courses to integrate. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all content you want is selected.
  3. Confirm your selection by selecting Review and add rule.
  4. Review the rule details
  5. Select Save as draft to save your rule to the Content rule set, but not make it active. Select Add rule to activate your rule within the Content rule set.

Download content

After you created your rule set with your selected content, you can download the AICC and metadata for importing into your LMS. If your LMS can automatically support AICC launch URLs from a CSV file, you may use the Supplemental Metadata file as a content import file.

  1. Back on the Manage Content Rule set page, select Download options. You have three options.
    • AICC Packages: This AICC standards-based packages contain the information needed to deploy your selected content to your catalog including the mastery score data. Refer to your system documentation on how to import AICC packages to your catalog.
    • AICC Packages (Workday): This AICC standards-based packages contain the information needed to deploy your selected content to your catalog. The difference between this AICC Package option and the one above is that the Mastery Score is excluded from the .au file. Some LMSs, like Workday, require this so that the course does not complete before the test is passed.
    • Supplemental metadata: This *.csv file for your content selection contains AICC launch URLs and parameters as well as additional metadata not available in the AICC standards-based packages. Some additional metadata contained in this file include:

      • Language: The locale of the content, for example English, French, or German.
      • Duration: The expected duration of the content.
      • Image URL: A URL to a thumbnail image for the content.
      • Course number: The Skillsoft course number. An example of a course number for a legal course is: lchr_01_a87_lc_enus; and one for an environmental course is: ehs_hsf_c10_sh_enus.
      • CONTENT ID: Unique identifier for the Skillsoft content item. If you created multiple configurations for a compliance course, each configuration has a unique Content ID.
      • Title: The descriptive name (or title) given to the course. This will be in the language of the course, so for example a German course will have a title that is in German language.

When you import this information into your system, your learners have a better content experience. Refer to your system documentation on how to import additional metadata for items in your catalog.

    • View downloads:View the file size, number of assets, status, they type of file, and when the file expires. For each item downloaded, you can download it again or delete it from the list.
  2. Select one at a time: either AICC packages, AICC packages (Workday), or Supplmental metadata. You see the View downloads page.
  3. Locate the file to download, and under the Actions menu, select Download.

Deploy content

After defining and downloading your content rule set, you are ready to deploy to your LMS.

  1. Decide on your course completion criteria.

  2. Determine how you want to deploy translated content. Work with your Skillsoft account team.

  3. Determine if courses require configurations. For more details see Course configurations.

  4. Extract the zip file so that you can import the individual AICC packages within it into your LMS.

If your LMS can automatically import the AICC packages, point it to where you extracted the files. If your LMS can automatically support AICC launch URLs from a CSV file, you may use the Supplemental Metadata file as a content import file.

If your LMS does not support auto-importing the files, import them in whatever means your LMS provides.

  5. Configure your new catalog within your system. Refer to your systems documentation for details on how to configure content catalogs.
