Add Compliance Content via an LMS Connector

Compliance content can be delivered to the following Learning Management Systems via a connector.

Connectors automate content management by periodically creating, updating, and removing courses. With Moodle and SumTotal, all compliance courses are deployed to your LMS. With SuccessFactors you can choose to deploy all courses or select some courses. Please work with your Skillsoft account teams to confirm you meet the requirements to deploy a connector.

Test content

Before you deploy compliance content, we recommend that you test it. See Testing content for integration for detailed instructions and test packages.

Select content

Once you know which compliance content you want to deploy, follow the process to create a Content rule set:

  1. From the Settings menu, select System Integration, then select Content Selection and Sync.
  2. Select Manage Content Rules and then Create content rule.
  3. Select Compliance Content. Compliance content includes courses from the Legal, and Environmental, Safety & Health collections. If you want to create a rule for non-compliance Skillsoft content, see Select content for your catalog.
  4. On the page that displays, click next to Untitled Rule to add a name for the rule. Click Save.
  5. Choose your Selection type.
    • Start with all content selected: select this option if you are looking to include one of your full compliance collections.
    • Start with no content selected: select this option if you only want to select specific compliance courses from each collection. This option works well for systems that can only import small amount of content at a time.
  6. Back on the Manage Content Rule set page, you can add more rules at this time by selecting Create content rule and following steps 4 and 5, or you can proceed to download your compliance content for deployment.

You can create as many rules as you want. Consider the following:

    • When deploying content, the selection process always uses the Content rule set of all active rules.
    • Once a rule is active, the courses in that rule will be sent over to the LMS in the next content sync.
    • If you are not ready to deploy the content associated with a rule, save the rule as a draft. You can review and add a rule at any time.
    • If you delete a rule, then the course metadata in that rule will be sent over to the LMS as inactive and learners will not have access to those courses in the LMS.
    • If when editing a rule you remove courses, then the course metadata for the courses you removed will be sent over to the LMS as inactive and learners will not have access to those courses in the LMS.
    • Any changes you make to a rule or the Content rule set impact the content metadata sent in the next content sync with the LMS.

Start with all compliance content selected

If you select Start with all Content Selected:

  1. Select Next step. All compliance collections are selected by default.
  2. Unselect any collection that you do not want to include in your catalog .
  3. Click Review and add rule.
  4. Review the rule details
  5. Select Save as draft to save your rule to the Content rule set, but not make it active. Select Add rule to activate your rule within the Content rule set.

Start with no content selected

If you selected Start with no content selected:

  1. In the Search bar enter the compliance title or course code of the item you want to add. Matching results appear in one of the three tabs: ES&H, Legal, or Other.
    • If you enter search terms and no result are found, select a different tab.
    • You find courses that are not regulatory under the Other tab, such as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion courses.
    • If you license Certitude, selecting Certitude content from the Other tab may lead to unexpected behavior in your LMS. If you want to import Certitude content, please contact your Skillsoft Account Team for best results.
  2. Select the courses to integrate. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all content you want is selected.
  3. Confirm your selection by selecting Review and add rule.
  4. Review the rule details
  5. Select Save as draft to save your rule to the Content rule set, but not make it active. Select Add rule to activate your rule within the Content rule set.
