Creating a new site is a three step process within Percipio.
Get Started
To create a new site:
- Sign in with your domain administrator account.
- From Sites in the left navigation bar, select Create new site the Create new site page displays.
- Follow the steps on screen. At the end of each step, you can Cancel without saving changes or move onto the Next step.
Follow the onscreen steps
- Provide site details: In this step, you specify the hierarchy structure, the site name and URL along with the site administrator.Field Definitions
Field name Description Parent site All sites must exist under a parent site. Select from the existing list. You cannot change to a different parent site once you create a site.
When designing your site hierarchy structure you can go up to four levels deep. There is no limit to the number of sites that can exist at any one level.
Example: At Akara, they designed a multi-site configuration as follows:- Level 1: Akara Internal employees
- Level 2: Sales
- Level 2: Engineering
- Level 1: Akara Partners
- Level 2: Contractors
- Level 2: Vendors
- Level 3: Vendor 1
- Level 3: Vendor 2
Host name URL This is the unique name you give to identify the Percipio URL. When naming the URL, Percipio checks to make sure the URL does not already exist before it lets you create it. A green check appears if you can use the host name you specified.
Tip: It is best not to change the URL name after creating a site. Changing the URL could impact links and user bookmarks.
Site name This is the unique name you give the site and is what appears on the Site Management page.
Tip: When designing your site hierarchy, it is best to identify a naming convention to follow.
Site Admin Specify the first name, last name, and email address of the person responsible for overseeing all aspects of the new site. Tips for completing step 1- You must identify a site administrator during the creation process, but you can set up other site administrators at a later date.
- The site administrator must be unique to that site.
- Site name and URL must be unique.
- Level 1: Akara Internal employees
- Allocate licenses: Select how many licenses from each license pool to designate to this site. Tips for completing step 2
- If you do not specify the number of licenses during the creation process, you can add them later.
- You can add to the number of allocated licenses at any time by editing the site.
- You can only decrease the number of allocated licenses by the number of unused licenses on the site.
- If you want the number of licenses on the child site to renew automatically when the parent site renews, select Automatically renew with parent site for each license pool. When selecting this option, the license distribution to audiences is also retained on renewal.
- If you plan to only use custom content on this site, you will still need to allocate the minimum Skillsoft collection to all users.Note: You need to reallocate licenses to all child sites if your contract changes. You then need to create new license distributions on each child site to ensure learners maintain access to the content.
- Review and create site: Ensure all information is correct and create your new site.Note: After you allocate licenses to child sites, you need to create audiences and then associate those audiences with the allocated license pools in the child sites so learners can see content.
