New Features and Enhancements as of July 25, 2024
Engaging your learners to build a learning culture
The items in this section provide ways to engage your users so they want to learn and make learning a habit.
Get a sneak peak at the new user experience coming August 4, 2024! Any user with admin privileges can turn on a preview from the top navigation and start exploring.
This new experience is based on many hours of research and user testing to ensure learners can easily access all current features and that it is scalable to support new features coming on the product roadmap. This preview includes:
- Left-hand navigation for learners and admins
- A new Library page instead of the menu
- My Learning page that consolidates all learner activity
- Search-based Area and Subject pages
- Certifications page
- All visual design changes including new fonts, updated spacing, and content cards with rounded edges
Look for the feedback icons on the platform to let us know what you think about the improvements. We look forward to hearing from you!
Use this preview period to update any of your learning materials. You can get details of all the changes from this Quick Start Guide and more learner marketing materials from the Learning Edge (Skillsoft's user community). If you don't have access to the Learning Edge, please reach out to your Skillsoft account team.
To help learners more easily find the left navigation when it is closed, learners will soon see an expand arrow where the menu would be. Selecting the expand arrow unhides the left navigation.
The hamburger menu will only show if the learner shrinks the desktop window to a narrow width. Selecting the hamburger menu opens the left navigation.
If you have the setting for AI Assistant turned on, learners may see the beta version of AI Assistant in the left navigation as early as August 4 when the new learner experience goes live. We will be rolling out the beta AI Assistant in stages over the next several weeks. We look forward to getting your feedback so we can continually improve your personalized learning experience.
When a learner's Percipio language is set to any non-English language and a learner performs a search in that language, search now includes matching results in any of the locale variants for that language.
For example, when Percipio is set for French (FR) and a learner performs a search in French, search will return matching results in both French (FR) and French (CA) (as well as English, if the feature to include English results is enabled). The languages that currently support this functionality are:
- Spanish (DO and ES)
- French (CA and FR)
- Portuguese (BR and PT)
Note, not all languages may be entitled for your Percipio site.
Manage, promote, and measure learning
The items in this section provide the tools you need to manage users and content, promote learning, and measure learning effectiveness on your bottom line.
When the new learner experience goes live on August 4, 2024, learners will see a What's new page which shows them links to new content and new features. The highlighted items will be scoped to each learner's entitlement and honor any admin settings.
If you don't want your users to see this page, you can turn it off using the Display What's New page setting.
You can now customize the colors for the left navigation menus to match your site brand. You can customize both the learner and admin menus separately so you can help your admins distinguish what interface they are in.
Find the new setting under Site Settings -> Site Branding and the Menu section.
For more information, see Site branding.
Usability Enhancements
The items in this section show where we are making improvements to the interface for a better experience.
When you create a promotion, channel, journey, assignment, or learning program, you must add content. To add content, you search for it. Currently, when content is scheduled to retire, you receive a notification above the content card that shows the retirement date. In this release, when retiring content in search results has a replacement, you now see the replacement item under the retiring item. You can add the replacement item to your promotion, channel, journey, assignment, or learning program.
Previously, when you changed the definition of an audience by changing the attribute operator, you would not see the details of the change in the audit log. Now you do see the details.
For example, if you create an audience where Location = <some value> (included), then change the rule to Location != <some value> (excluded), the log file showed that a change happened, but not what it was. The log file now shows whether the attribute value is included or excluded.
With this release, you will see the following enhancements:
- The Live Course list page now includes a filter on the Approvals column to help you find those classes where learner's registrations need to be approved.
- From the approval notification email, when admins access the View pending requests button, they will now be redirected to Live Course list page with the Approvals column filtered so that only those classes with pending approvals display.
- Instructions in live course notifications now guide learners to the live course details if they need to make changes to their registration. You can see these changes in the Registration confirmation, Registration approval, and Class changes notifications.
