Course Development Process

Developing a course with SkillStudio requires planning, an understanding of course architecture, and knowledge of instructional design. SkillStudio supports creation as well as development of the basic components of effectively-designed courses (relevant content, learning objectives, presentation and practice strategies, and evaluation). There are three basic stages to instructional design:

Follow these general development steps to use SkillStudio to develop your course:

  1. Select a course type.
  2. Add your course components, which are typically determined during the design stage:
  3. Create pages using templates appropriate for the content and the instructional intent:
  4. Preview and audit your course for errors or warnings, ensuring the text and graphics are editorially and instructionally accurate.
  5. Record audio for learners to see and hear the content.
  6. Add or edit the course resources.
  7. Publish the course to Skillport or your LMS.

Note: If you want to create a SCORM version of a SkillStudio course and publish it to your Learning Management System (LMS), contact Skillsoft Technical Support for assistance.
