Developing a course with SkillStudio requires planning, an understanding of course architecture, and knowledge of instructional design. SkillStudio supports creation as well as development of the basic components of effectively-designed courses (relevant content, learning objectives, presentation and practice strategies, and evaluation). There are three basic stages to instructional design:
The instructional design process begins with research and analysis of the content and learning requirements for each course.
The design stage typically results in a high-level outline that includes the content to be covered, the learning objectives, some ideas about presentation and practice strategies for each objective, as well as the strategies to be used to evaluate (test) learners' attainment of the objectives. The design stage can be completed independently, or by using the related fields in SkillStudio.
The course development stage begins after the initial analysis and design stages are complete.
