About Audiences

Audiences are a subset of users created to manage content assignments. The audiences that you work with in Compliance are created and managed in Percipio.

In Percipio, audiences can be assigned owners in order to limit the user information others can see. However, in Compliance, this functionality is not synced with audience information and audience owners are not recognized in Percipio Compliance. In order to limit the user information others can see in Compliance, use the Demographic Delimiter feature to create shared attributes (demographic labels) for specific users.

If your user role is anything other than site admin, you can perform the following functions for users with whom you share attributes:

  • Search for users by audience (you cannot search by attribute)
  • View or change user information
  • Assign compliance training
  • Assign exemptions / equivalencies
  • Assign completions
  • Reset course test attempts (Use if the Completion setting Maximum number of test attempts is configured. This resets all progress in the course for the user.)
  • Run reports

Your ability to perform the functions listed above is also based on your Compliance security level, and the level required to access Compliance features. See Security Setup for more information.

Note: New audiences created in Percipio are not available in Compliance until after data sync runs.

For more information about creating and managing audiences in Percipio see Audiences in the Percipio Knowledge Base.

Impacts to completion when changing a learner's audience

If you assign courses or learning programs at the audience level in compliance:

Course completion: If a change in user attributes causes a learner to be removed from an audience that has a course assignment, and that learner has started but not completed the course, the learner's progress will be lost. This is true even if the user gets added to a different audience with that same course assignment.

Learning program completion: If a change in user attributes causes a learner to be removed from an audience that has a Learning Program assignment, and that learner has not completed the entire Learning Program, the learner loses all progress for all courses within the Learning Program. This is true even if the user gets added to a different audience with that same Learning Program assignment. Before making changes that impact compliance audiences, run the Learning Program report so you have a record of learner progress.
