New Features and Enhancements (as of September 2, 2021)
Expanding skills of your workforce
The items in this section provide ways to grow your talent and fill critical skill gaps, building mastery with confidence.
Your learners will soon be able to live chat or email a mentor within the course player for select Technology & Developer and Leadership & Business courses. This is in addition to the current ability to access mentors from within a channel.
Ask a Mentor - Course level access is turned on by default. With it on, learners will soon be able to connect with Skillsoft mentors directly from the course page to get advice and answers to questions via live chat or email. This is great for those learners seeking certifications or studying difficult topics. Ask a Mentor is only available in English.
See Site features for more details.
Engaging your learners to build a learning culture
The items in this section provide ways to engage your users so they want to learn and make learning a habit.
Skillsoft now has the ability to provide system notifications, instructions, and surveys for targeted groups of users through Pendo, a Skillsoft-approved, third-party sub-processor. These are intended to help both learners and administrators take advantage of features and functions while working in Percipio, and to provide feedback to Skillsoft so we can improve the experience. For example, when new learners login, they may get a guided walk-through of the user interface to help them onboard faster, and when seasoned admins login they may get notified of new features and functions that apply to them, helping them maximize Percipio for their organization.
We understand there may be some reasons with regards to accessibility or government regulations that may prevent you from being able to participate in this valuable program. For that, we provided a setting, Allow Percipio to present guides and surveys to user via Pendo, that you can turn off. You do not need to turn it off because of security; Pendo anonymizes all personal identifying information (PII). It is on by default because we really want your input so we can design a better product.
For more details on this setting, refer to Allow Percipio to present guides and surveys to user via Pendo.
For details regarding Pendo, refer to Personalized user onboarding and Pendo Security and Privacy.
Manage, promote and measure learning
The items in this section provide the tools you need to manage users and content, promote learning, and measure learning effectiveness on your bottom line.
Now, both Account Teams and active Percipio Site Admins will start receiving email notifications about license pool changes. These notifications aid admins so their learners do not get their access to content interrupted. The two types of notifications are:
- When one or more license pools have been added to a site, they receive immediate notification with a link to create a new license distribution.
- When one or more license pools are set to reach a rollover or contract end date, they receive notification 20 days before the expiration date with a link to update license pool distributions.
Executive Dashboard – Update to Returning Users calculation: To improve accuracy we modified the calculation used to generate Returning Users on the Executive Dashboard. Now, a Returning User is defined by one who logged in prior to the specified date range AND viewed at least one page within the specified date range.
Executive Report – Total Completions column added: This new shows the total number of completions of all asset types, but does not include videos inside the course. Refer to Executive Report for details.
Ecosystems and Integrations
The items in this section help you to integrate Percipio across your learning ecosystem and promote how Skillsoft works with its partners.
Following Microsoft's announcement that they are ending support for Internet Explorer (IE), Skillsoft announces that:
- Support for Percipio on IE ends on September 7, 2021.
- Percipio no longer works on IE as of December 10, 2021. After December 10, Percipio users must use a supported browser.
After September 7, Percipio users with Internet Explorer will have a degraded experience, and our customer support team will no longer field questions related to Internet Explorer 11. Due to the need to address security vulnerabilities, Skillsoft determined that Percipio will cease to function entirely with Internet Explorer 11 as of December 10, 2021.
While we will make every effort to hold to the date of December 10, 2021, there remains the chance that a need to address additional security vulnerabilities will force us to discontinue support for Internet Explorer on an earlier date. We will communicate such a change promptly.
Stay current on Percipio system requirements. Get more information from Microsoft.
