Using Share Links for Books Limited Access
You can use a Share Link to provide an easy way to direct users into the Books Limited View, without the need to integrate with OLSA.
This link is useful in an email or on a web page, especially if Single Sign-On (SSO) is enabled, since it enables one-click access to the Books Limited environment. If SSO is not enabled, users will be taken to the Skillport Login Page and will need to log in with their Skillport User Name and Password (which they may not know). Once logged in, learners will remain in the restricted view for their entire session.
Example:
https://company.skillport.com/skillportfe/main.action?path=_addon_books_001
Notes:
- Substitute your actual Skillport site protocol and URL.
- The Action is:
path=_addon_books_001
Disabling Share Links for Learners
The Skillport UI offers an option to display Share Links for individual assets, Browse Views or Catalog Subject Areas. When Share Links are enabled, learners can create them and send them to other learners. However, if the Share Links are not configured with the Books Only addon parameter, learners accessing a Skillport asset via a Share Link will be directed to the full Skillport site and have access to all assets, including courses. This is not desirable for TPLMS customers, and we recommend that Share links be disabled in Skillport. Work with your Skillsoft Application Engineer to make sure that Share Links are disabled for your site.
Note: You can enable Share Links for administrators so they can easily create share links for book or video assets. Instruct your administrators to add the Books Only addon parameter before sending the share link to learners. Contact your Skillsoft Account team to enable this feature. (SKP.enable_deep_link_ui_tool=1).
